What to Know
For many people, the purpose of social media is to somehow go viral. When they do, other people spend all of their time trying to recreate those videos. But sometimes, people don’t anticipate that they’ll get pushback for their viral videos. Two teen girls are learning that the hard way. They shared a video on TikTok where they recreated a viral video of someone accidentally destroying a ‘Finding Nemo’ toy. However, people didn’t appreciate them destroying the toy. Instead, people left a lot of frustrated comments calling them out for their bad behavior in a store.
The girls thought they were just being funny.
TikTok user lexilovesminipickles posted the video of her and a friend amongst the toy shelves at their local big box store. (It looks like a Walmart.) They are playing with a squishy clownfish toy that is supposed to resemble Nemo, and then one of the girls stretches it.
Somehow, she acts shocked when it breaks, and the filling is sprayed all over where they’re standing. According to the video’s caption, the whole thing is a “niche reference.”

People were quick to call them out in the comments.
The girls are likely anywhere between 15 and 17. It’s not like they don’t understand what they’re doing. And that’s what many people were frustrated about.
“You better pick it up and pay for it lol,” one person wrote. “Okay this just pmo. Why would you do that 😭,” another commenter added.
“At your grown age..?” another person asked. “This is why we can’t have nice things…someone else added. “What was even the joke? “It’s Nemo” then just made a mess for others to clean,” a commenter added.
There were people defending the teen girls and their behavior.
“It’s Walmart, a MILLION DOLLARS COMPANY btw they won’t care if you broke a 5$ squishy ,” one user wrote.
“Didn’t expect the fun police to be in the comments 😭😭,” someone added. Another person wrote “why is everyone so mad i thought this was the funniest thing in the g-d–n world.”
They felt the need to explain themselves.
The teen girls posted a follow up video after they went viral. In it, they explained that they were impulsively recreating a viral video where a person did the same thing. However, they said they did in fact pay for the toy they destroyed. Allegedly, they also bought a few other items.
They also tried to allege that people were overreacting about the mess they made because most of it was on the shelf as opposed to the floor.
As if that makes any difference. They also claimed that the store employee seemed to be cool with the mess.
“Schools need to be teaching more critical thinking skills,” one person wrote.
