Tradwife Influencers Are Making Money on Social Media While Telling Women to Stay Home

There is a growing number of tradwife influencers on social media, and when it comes down to it, their content is one big contradiction of everything they try to promote. Just for clarification, a tradwife is someone who believes they are a “traditional” wife in terms of being dedicated to catering to their husband, taking care of the home, and having plenty of babies to also take care of. So fun, right?

In a TikTok from a user who is definitely not a tradwife, the creator explains how tradwives with “very conservative values” also monetize their channels and make money from making content about being a tradwife. Because if the idea is that women are supposed to be barefoot and pregnant, how does making a career out of content creation factor into all of that?

Tradwife influencers are doing the very thing they are so against.

The TikTok creator, whose name is Eisley Young, explains in her video that if tradwives believe everything they say about submitting to their husbands, trusting their husbands to lead their home, and even their beliefs, then why are they sharing their own opinions at all?

“Like, why are you on TikTok posting your opinion?” Eisley says in her video. “Like, why isn’t your husband posting your opinion for you? Like, I just don’t understand. Because why aren’t you, like, sticking to what you stand for? You’re on social media right now having an opinion…You’re not sticking to what you stand for. I truly hate to break the bad news to all the super conservative women out there, but if you’re on social media right now, you’re a feminist.”

She goes on to explain that, by the logic of these tradwives, posting on social media as a woman makes them a feminist in some way. They might not realize it, but according to Eisley, having an opinion and sharing it on such a big platform means these tradwives are more radical than they even realize.

“Sorry, posting anywhere on social media, you have feminist values because feminism fought for these things for you,” she says. Being able to be a woman and have an opinion online is already a form of feminism. And if you don’t believe in that, then just don’t post your opinion online. Have your husband do it for you or something.”

The women are working, even though they’re against women having jobs.

@gubbahomestead1 A "trad wife" is a woman who embraces traditional roles within the household, but believes that doing so does not mean sacrificing her rights or freedoms. I'm all for it. #homestead #homesteader ♬ Beautiful and emotional instrumental music(1044200) – MaxRecStudio

These tradwives might believe they are traditional housewives, but they are also working wives and mothers. They are making money from their content, they are using their platform to make a name for themselves outside of their home, and they are also telling their female viewers at the same time to not work.

It’s all one big hypocritical mess. Luckily, people are here to call them out, even if most tradewives would rather defer to their husbands’ opinions on the matter.

“They have opinions about how they shouldn’t have opinions,” a TikToker commented on the video.

Someone else suggested, “They should delete all social apps because spending time on them is actually taking away time from their chores, husband and kids.”

Another wrote, “And they get PAID ON SOCIAL MEDIA. Like sorry but you’re not allowed to have your own money.”

Some people are ready to be done with the tradwife movement as a whole.

In recent years, the tradwife trend has become more and more popular on social  media. For some users, it might be a gimmick or a way to play a character and monetize their content based on the character who other users believe is real. But other tradwife influencers really believe their shtick, down to their religious convictions that they say tell them what gender roles should be. And, frankly, people are a little tired of it.

“Sweet baby Jesus, as a proud fifty-year-old feminist, I have been screaming this at the wall for the last few years,” a TikTok user wrote under the video.

Someone also commented, “They pretend to be Christian. But don’t actually believe ANY of the things from the Bible. Helping the poor, healing for everyone, being rich is bad. All those things are directly from Jesus’ mouth yet they call those things bleeding heart liberal bulls–t.”
