What to Know
When 30-year-old trans man, writer, and activist Kenny Ethan Jones decided to help his 39-year-old sister Kizzy Jones on her fertility journey, he did something pretty amazing: he donated his eggs for her to use. According to reports, Kenny has already harvested 13 eggs to support Kizzy’s journey toward motherhood.
The siblings’ story quickly went viral on TikTok, touching viewers worldwide and sparking a conversation about modern fertility options.
In the video, Jones shares a clip of Kizzy telling him that the age of her eggs was causing her issues with her fertility, including two miscarriages. Her body wasn’t the problem; the eggs were. Kizzy began researching IVF, considering the use of an egg donor, and emailing companies that could be of use on her fertility journey.
Instead of a random egg donor, Kizzy found a powerful ally in her brother.
For Kenny, the decision was rooted in unconditional family support. He explained that when he became aware of his sister’s desire to become a mother, he simply wanted to help.
“You can have my eggs, if you want them,” he told his sister.
Jones had been taking testosterone for nearly 10 years, he says in the video.
He still had eggs, but wasn’t sure if they were viable or not. After consulting with his healthcare providers, he learned his eggs were healthy enough to donate.
Though Kizzy was worried her brother would experience gender dysphoria—the distress a person feels when their sense of gender identity does not match the sex they were assigned at birth—amid the in vitro fertilization (IVF) process, Edwards couldn’t be swayed.
For two weeks, he had to take a variety of medications and injections prior to having his eggs harvested.
An emotional part of the video shows Edwards describing what it was like to get his first period in years after completing the IVF medication and restarting his testosterone.
Ultimately, the egg retrieval process was successful!
Doctors were able to collect 19 eggs, six of which became embryos. After his sister finished up her own round of medications and injections, she underwent implantation. She was told to wait two weeks before taking a pregnancy test.
Luckily, Edwards followed up his viral video with a beautiful, happy update:
She’s pregnant!
The sibling duo are committed to documenting Kizzy’s pregnancy journey, and Edwards is thrilled to become an uncle.
“After two miscarriages, she’s being cautious,” Edwards shares. “It’s still early days, and there’s a long road ahead… but what a beautiful start.”
What a beautiful gift he’s given to his older sister!
