What to Know
Going from three to four kids is no easy feat. But going from having two younger siblings to having three is an even bigger deal to the oldest sibling. A mom by the name of Jaymie posted a TikTok video where her oldest child, her seven-year-old son, Theo, takes charge after she unexpectedly goes into labor and delivers her baby at their home.
Don’t worry, he doesn’t actually deliver the baby himself. In fact, in the video, any sounds of the impending birth or aftermath are all heard off-camera. But her son does go into full big brother mode when Jaymie’s four-year-old son, Tion, wakes up with all of the noise and commotion. It’s a sweet moment made even sweeter when you hear Theo introduce his younger brother to the baby off-camera.

The mom’s older son helped his younger brother after their mom gave birth.
The video, which Jaymie posted in January 2026, shows Theo go into Tion’s bedroom as the little one appears to be in distress and worried after hearing their mother give birth before her father and an ambulance arrive. Theo tells his little brother to go with him and that what’s happening is “important.”
Theo tells his little brother to “come see the baby,” and then he takes him out of the room to where their mother gave birth in their home unexpectedly. He also tells him that their mom has to go to the hospital, but that their grandfather is there. He clearly knows that it’s important that Tion is aware of everything happening so he can be a little less frightened. It’s proof of what kind of big brother Theo will continue to be for the new baby, and when he’s a bit older.
But the maturity and care he has in taking charge with his younger brother is adorable.
Jaymie wrote on the video, “Here’s my eldest son trying to console his brother as I woke them up, and showing him his baby brother for the first time.”
She added in the caption, “I can’t believe it’s nearly been a year since the most traumatic event of my life.” Now, Mom and all four kids are doing just fine. But the birth of her youngest child was a traumatic event for everyone.
One person commented on the video with, “The way he was probably so confused or anxious himself but was holding it together to take charge of his little brother. What an absolute sweetheart, you’re raising the most lovely boy.”
Other users commended Jaymie for her parenting. Theo’s actions are indicative of the way he is being raised, and you really can’t ignore that. After she posted the TikTok video, Jaymie spoke to Newsweek and explained the backstory about her kids and their relationship a bit more.
She shared with the outlet that she was grateful to have her oldest child by her side in that moment. “Theo is autistic, and dealt with everything going on that night so calmly, and I was so glad to have him with me that night,” she said.
What an incredible family.
