Preschooler Mistakenly Gives Teacher a ‘Sexy’ Card Her Mom Intended for Dad’s Birthday

If there's one thing to know about Ruby Williams, it's that the sweet and spunky 5-year-old has always kept her parents on their toes. According to her mom Brinn, the preschooler has always been a bit "theatrical," and clearly takes after her middle name: Wilde. Needless to say, her antics are certainly entertaining. But recently, little Ruby did something that was so unexpected — and so accidentally hilarious — that the Williams's didn't know whether to cry with laughter or hang their heads in embarrassment.

(In the end, though, they kinda did both.)

Ruby asked to make a card for her teacher, Miss Becca

This wasn't unusual, since Ruby loves to draw, color, and create sweet cards for people all the time. But on this particular night, she asked her mom if she could borrow some of her stationery, and without giving it much thought, Brinn said sure.

The 34-year-old mom of three, who lives in Lincoln, Nebraska, knew she had some rainbow-colored stationery on her desk that Ruby would like. She also assumed her daughter would probably make one of her typical greeting cards: a folded-over piece of paper with stick figures drawn in crayon and a nice message written inside.

And so, she left Ruby to it ...

Brinn says she didn't pop in to check on her daughter as she made the card for Miss Becca, and she didn't think to take a look later, either, when the 5-year-old stuffed it into her backpack.

In fact, Ruby's mom didn't think about the card at all until the following day, when she got an unexpected text from the director of Ruby's preschool.

Naturally, she got a little nervous

And after reading the director's message, she got even more nervous.

“Good morning Brinn!” the text began. " … I just wanted to let you know that Ruby gave Miss Becca a card this morning that she said she found on your desk. Are you missing a card?"

Brinn's mind began to race

Yes, she knew Ruby had made a card from what was on her desk, she said, but she'd assumed that the 5-year-old had chosen to make it out of some stationery.

Suddenly, Brinn worried that her daughter had grabbed something else entirely. Something that was definitely not G-rated.

Turns out, she was right

You see, Brinn did have some rainbow-colored stationery on her desk that night. But she also had some funny birthday cards she bought in advance for close friends and family.

Including one card that was strictly meant for her husband.

"Oh, you're gonna love this …," the director wrote back, as the mom braced herself for what came next.

Before she knew it, Brinn was staring at a very "scandalous" birthday card

In fact, it was the same scandalous birthday card that she recently purchased for her husband.

"A best friend you can have sex with …," it read. "How great is that?"

Once she saw a photo of the card, Brinn was instantly mortified

"Her teacher and the director got the best laugh out of it and knew it was a complete accident, but still funny," she tells Mom.com.

As for her husband?

"[He] was as embarrassed as I was, but we were able to laugh and knew it was all in innocence," the mom added.

Brinn later shared the funny story on Instagram, where it instantly took off

Before she knew it, Ruby's hilarious faux pas was going viral and even made the national news.

"One other thing that made my husband and me a bit more embarrassed is that [Ruby] goes to a Christian preschool and the teacher opened it on the bus during bus duty," Brinn tells Mom.com. "Their reaction to it all made it even better!"

Clearly, the Nebraska mom has gotten over her initial embarrassment and is now laughing right along with the rest of us. (And it's a good thing, too, because this story is HILARIOUSLY amazing.)
