There are certain universal truths about parenting. Babies will always poop at the worst possible moment. Toddlers will absolutely betray you in public when you least expect it. And when a dad is left alone with dinner duty, things are going to go off-script.
In May 2025, while TikTok mom Katy Pruett (@katypruett) was out for a well-earned girls’ night, her husband sent her a video of dinnertime with their toddler, and Pruett was shocked to see the entree he served her was definitely NOT on the menu when she left. No cut-up fruit. No buttered pasta. Not a chicken nugget in sight. That’s because he fed her … wait for it … an entire pizza.
Not a little baby slice. Not even the crust for her to gnaw on.
We’re talking an entire, grown-up, adult-sized pizza. WITH PEPPERONI. And it wasn’t delivery, it was DiGiorno™!
Katy, who had very likely left behind a typical lineup of toddler-approved foods, expected a standard dinner report: Maybe “She ate her avocado,” or “She tossed the peas on the floor again.”
But noooooo.
What she got instead was a video text from her hubby of their daughter, standing near Dad at the coffee table, absolutely housing one side of a whole pepperoni pie like she was training for a competitive eating contest.
Because parents love to come for each other on the internet, commenters certainly had things to say about dad’s off-the-menu meal. But instead of shaming the father for his dinner offering, the majority of the gripes lovingly came from … ranch salad dressing enthusiasts?
Many people chimed in wanting to know how dad could forget to give his baby girl the country’s most beloved dipping sauce for her freshly baked dinner.
The post even caught the attention of, you guessed it, Hidden Valley Ranch!
On May 19, the legendary salad dressing brand commented on Katy’s post, “All she’s missing is the ranch.”
Another commenter hilariously wrote, “I’m a pediatrician and this is a major risk not dipping in ranch.”
One mom joked, “What kind of parents are you!!! Where is the ranch?”
The post, which is currently sitting at 3.8 million views, has even garnered attention from major brands on the app!
Walmart took to the comments section to say, “Looks like she’s having an even better girls’ night honestly.”
Huggies chimed in adding, “Living up to what her shirt says ‘wild and free.’”
Jack in the Box got in on the fun, commenting, “No napkins just vibes.”
Great Wolf Lodge also commented, “The cutest start of pizza night traditions with dad.”
Surprisingly, most of TikTok cheered the dad on because why not give a toddler a whole pizza?
She was hungry. It was there. And apparently, she “kept reaching for more,” which in dad language translates to “I gave her everything until it was gone.”
Now listen. This man is not without logic. He could always claim he was “respecting her independence” and “supporting fine motor skill development.”
And if we’re being honest, what toddler wouldn’t go feral for a whole pie? Plus, she probably slept like, well, a baby, that night from the cheese coma, which, as any parent knows, is the real prize.
We’re sure mom returned to find baby girl’s onesie crusty with tomato sauce, her sippy cup smelling vaguely like garlic butter and pizza burps.
Katy, to her credit, took it in stride.
Because at the end of the day, sometimes the chaos is the parenting. Sometimes you puree vegetables and make Pinterest-worthy meals, and sometimes your child eats pizza like a raccoon at a tailgate.
The moral of the story: If you’re leaving dad in charge, maybe hide the delivery apps. Or don’t—because these are the stories you’ll be telling for years. You’ll forget the quinoa. You’ll remember the time your toddler out-ate a frat boy.
Parenthood isn’t always pretty. But sometimes it’s deliciously ridiculous. 🍕
