When a new mom, or even a seasoned mom, gives birth, the natural questions people have revolve around the newborn. Sure, there are those who ask how Mom is doing, and if she is recovering, but there is something about the newborn smell that makes people forget all about that old incubator of a woman and turn their attention toward the newest bundle of joy in their lives.
I mean, I can’t totally blame them for that. But one mom on TikTok, Sharea, posted a video where she says her older son made it a point to check on her after her new baby was born.
And, just for reference, this boy is not an adult son, but instead simply the older brother of two little brothers and the new baby. He’s the biggest big bro in the family, but still a kid himself, and he asks his mom how she is doing when he comes to visit her and the new baby in the hospital. Other women admitted the little boy gives them hope for raising sons.
In the video, Sharea greets her husband, their kids, and another family member. As one of the kids goes to wash his hands, presumably to get up close and personal with the newest member of the growing brood, the older son asks Sharea if she is OK and asks if she is in any pain.
He then reaches out to gently squeeze his mom’s shoulder, and clearly, this is learned behavior. Seriously, Sharea needs to give some parenting lessons on raising confident, selfless, and totally self-aware little boys, because this is amazing.
In the comments under the video, another user wrote that the video made her realize that, while before she might have been afraid of the idea of bringing boys and men into the world because of the problematic males out there, it might be something else altogether.
“Maybe I’m not so scared to raise a son, maybe I’m just scared of the sons people have raised,” she wrote.
Someone who actually knows Sharea in real life added her own comment to speak to the way Sharea and her husband are raising their sons. As if we needed any confirmation that the boys are being raised to be respectful and totally thoughtful, though.
“As someone who knows this family personally, I can tell you without a doubt that they are the MOST amazing parents that are raising their boys to be the BEST men possible,” she wrote. “And her husband Nate is a shining example of what a husband and father should be!”
Someone else commented, “This is a reflection of how great you are raising your sons.”
Another added, “This really moved me. His eye contact, gentle touch and genuine concern. What a beautiful human you are raising.”
The idea of bringing a male into the world can be daunting. This is the same world where some men believe that women are “asking for it” when they are sexually assaulted. This is the same world where some men are raised to believe they are superior to anyone that doesn’t look like them.
But Sharea’s video shows there is proof that you can raise your son to be a good person despite the noise.
