Mom Shocked After Her 4-Year-Old Announces That She’s Pierced Her Own Ears

As any parent knows, when your kid has an idea in their head, it is incredibly hard for them to give it up. If given the opportunity, they’re going to make it happen no matter what it takes. One mom in Canada was recently reminded of this when her 4-year-old daughter came to her and announced that she had pierced her own ears. Talk about a brave little girl!

No one could have anticipated what happened

Brianna Attias, a Toronto-based mom of three and content creator, shared a video on TikTok last week of her daughter Everly, sharing that the preschooler had pierced her own ears.

“Our 4 year old pierced her ears today…on her own…wtf,” Attias wrote over the video of Everly showing off her piercings.

“Did it hurt?” Attias asked. Everly cheekily replied, “No.”

Getting her ears pierced was something that Everly really wanted to do

“It was always something she wanted more and more as she got older,” Attias explained to Mom.com of Everly’s interest in having pierced ears. “But she was scared to get them done.”

Attias added that Everly briefly “wore magnetic earring but they became a chore so we gave up on them.” Clearly, she found her bravery and took matters into her own hands!

“I would have never expected something like that,” Attias told the New York Post. According to the mom, she was putting her makeup on in the bathroom when Everly used one of her old earrings to pierce her ears.

Everly is the 'rebellious' sibling

“She’s our rebellious one,” Attias told the outlet about her middle child, who has an older and younger sibling. “She acts way older than what she is.”

In the video, Attias and her husband, Cameron, are clearly in disbelief that their 4-year-old had pierced her own ears.

“What does a person like that turn into?” Cameron asks as his wife simply laughs.

She was never in trouble for what she did, but her parents did have a talk with her

“It may sound kind of crazy, but I was proud of her,” Attias admitted. She recalled that she too “was a kid once,” and joked that by piercing her own ears, Everly helped them “save money.”

After taking her to a professional to get a new pair of earrings, Attias and her husband sat their little rebel down and gave her a talking to about being safe and warning her about what could happen when you give yourself a piercing. To give her a little taste of freedom, Attias got her some fake piercings so she didn’t get tempted to pierce another part of her body.

Naturally, people had a lot of opinions about Everly's choice

The video has over 17,000 comments that vary between shock at Everly’s bravery to people giving Attias tips about after care (they did take her to a professional not long after her reveal).

One thing that surprised Attias about the reaction was “how different everyone’s perspectives are.”

“You get bashed for being bad parents, others cheer her on,” she said, adding that she found it “shocking” when Julia Fox commented on the post.

“I pierced my own ears in elementary school, so don’t worry, she’s on the right path,” Fox wrote.
