Baby Locks Mom Out of the Car & Keeps Hitting the Lock Button Like It’s Funny

Most stories about a baby being locked in a car end in tragedy or, at the very least, in a pretty serious way that involves a hospital stay and maybe even legal repercussions for the parent involved. But when a TikTok user, Brittany, posted a video of her infant daughter locked in her car, things turned out a little differently.

As viewers commented on the video, they noticed something very specific about the sight of Brittany’s daughter in the back seat. Brittany explains in the video that she did call for help, and later, she shared an update on everything. But, unlike the stories where things are a bit more dire, there is one small detail that people keep talking about when it comes to Brittany and her baby.

The baby wasn’t even scared about being locked in the car.

In the video, Brittany explains that she is waiting for the police or fire department to arrive, but she has eyes on her baby. But the baby looks completely unbothered by the entire situation. And the thing people can’t get over? The infant is sitting happily in her car seat holding the keys and continuously pressing the ‘lock’ button so the car keeps beeping. Yes, that’s right, she has the keys and she is locked inside the car.

“I locked Sarabi in the car and she’s pressing the lock button with her mouth,” Brittany explains in the video. She goes on to explain, “I always put the keys in her car seat thing or whatever, because I was holding it all in my hand. And this time when I closed the door, she picked it up.”  The result is the baby pressing the ‘lock’ button repeatedly while playing with her new toy, aka the actual keys to the car that she is locked in.

Brittany says, “This is such an experience. So I’ll be back after they pop my f—ing lock. Oh my f—ing God, this is so embarrassing. I’m really about to cry cause it’s so embarrassing. Oh my God.” She then jokes about her daughter pressing ‘lock’ all day, but somehow being unable to press ‘unlock’ to get them both out of this entire mess.

People joked that the baby actually locked the mom out.

At the end of the video, firefighters arrive to help Brittany unlock her car, and everyone has a good laugh about the baby locking herself in the car with the keys that accidentally fell into her car seat. It’s honestly like something out of a sitcom. Or even a romcom, if that firefighter and Brittany both happen to be single.

“You didn’t lock her in,” someone commented on the video. “She locked you out. She’s adorable.”

Someone else suggested, “Just ask her for the keys, she seems nice.”

Other people joked about the constant beeping of the ‘lock’ feature on the car key fob.

“You know, it’s not intentional, but it’s like rubbing salt in the wound every time you hear the beep,” another user wrote under the video.

Another person added, “Prolonged eye contact while gnawing on the keys…Lord let me become this unbothered when chaos is surrounding me.”

The mom shared a follow-up video.

@brittanylashay93 lol a lil back story on how we got there in the first place but again shout to #milwaukeefirefighters they were great.. #funny #milwaukeefirefighters #locksmithservice #fyp ♬ original sound – Brittany Lashay

Brittany goes into storytime mode in a follow-up video to explain exactly how the ordeal came to be with not only her daughter locked in the car, but locked in the car with the keys. She explains that before she and her daughter left for the grocery store, she put her in the car in her car seat, but didn’t realize that in the excitement of comforting her daughter over a fall and trying to get on the road for Easter shopping, her keys fell into the car seat. Then, she got locked out.

Brittany says that before they left home, she was recording herself in a mirror. Her daughter tried to lean against it, but Brittany bent down to pick her up so she wouldn’t fall. As babies tend to do, she fell anyway, got upset, and, according to Brittany, basically gave her some serious payback when they got out to the car.

“I got locked outside the car, and she thought it was hilarious,” Brittany says. She admits that she was “really shaking” until the firefighters arrived and were able to get her into her car.
