It’s the middle of one of the most miserable winters in most of the U.S. If you’re from some of the more temperate areas of the country, nice! Many of us are living next to tundras of frozen, compacted snow and trying to live our lives in sub-zero arctic temperatures that have become the norm for the past few weeks. All that cold outside, dry heat inside, and just overall blah-ness of winter wreaks havoc on our skin, our nails, our hair. That’s why we’ve chosen to dedicate this month’s Editor’s Picks to some winter saviors: The products that some of our editors rely on to revive tired, dry skin and invigorate brittle, sad hair. These are integral parts of our self-care routines, which we 100% support for all moms. They honestly make us feel human again!
Laura Geller Line Smoother Targeted Fine Line Filler
OK, for real, we don’t have time for products that overpromise. Laura Geller Line Smoother Targeted Fine Line Filler tackles crow’s feet, fine lines, wrinkles, and under-eye puffiness with powerhouse ingredients like niacinamide, vitamin C, caffeine, and hyaluronic acid. It tightens, firms, and smooths while doubling as a makeup primer, so you can skip a step in your routine. It’s hydrating while also mattifying, which sounds like it can’t be done, but it can! Since I’ve been using this, I’ve noticed a pronounced difference in my under-eye area. And off label, I’ve been dabbing it on my smile lines around my mouth, because, why not? It’s a great product!
Kérastase Nutritive 8H Magic Night Hair Serum for Dry Hair
This Kérastase serum truly is magic, as its name says. It’s a leave-in product that works while you sleep, delivering eight hours of nourishment so you wake up with soft, manageable hair instead of dry strands. Packed with plant-based proteins and niacinamide, it protects your hair from pillow friction and hydrates your hair overnight. Just apply before bed and let it do the heavy lifting while you catch some much-needed rest. It’s been a lifesaver this winter for my hair!
Kiehl's Ultra Facial Meltdown Recovery Cream
My dried-out skin needed this cream so desperately, I was thrilled when I finally tried it. The Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Meltdown Recovery Cream delivers visible comfort in no time, moisturizes with colloidal oatmeal, to calm and protect. Whether you’re dealing with eczema, rosacea, psoriasis, post-procedure sensitivity, or just brutal winter weather, this formula calms irritation on contact while supporting long-term barrier health. Think of it as your skin’s personal bodyguard, it’ll be ready when things get rough.
Tubby Todd Bath Co. All Over Ointment Original
Tubby Todd’s All Over Ointment has been one of my go-to products all winter. And not just for the baby or my kiddos; I use this rich, creamy ointment daily! The AOO uses plant-based ingredients to moisturize naturally, completely fragrance-free. And if your kids are sensitive to oat ingredients, this balm is perfect since it contains no colloidal oatmeal. Keep a jar in the diaper bag, another on the changing table, and one more for yourself. Available in 3.5oz and 8oz sizes.
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Lip Hydration Kit
It’s two award-winning best sellers in one set! The Neutrogena Daily Lip Hydration Kit features Hydro Boost Lip Oil and Hydro Boost Lip Sleeping Mask. Both lip products are packed with hyaluronic acid for instantly hydrated, fuller-looking. The Lip Oil gives a pretty, glossy shine with all the hydrating benefits of a balm during the day, while the Sleeping Mask works overnight to soften and restore. Lips will feel moisturized and healthy, not coated in waxy nonsense.
Sun Chlorella Cream Face Moisturizer
This one is for moms who want luxe skincare that doesn’t cost a fortune: Sun Chlorella Cream delivers peptide-powered anti-aging results at an affordable price. Its star ingredient, Chlorella Growth Factor, supports cellular repair and renewal to help slow signs of aging without harsh retinol, making it safe during pregnancy and nursing. With clove and grapefruit seed extract also in the mix, this moisturizer targets wrinkles while restoring hydration.
Sweet July Pava Exfoliating Cleanser
I have been using the Sweet July Pava Exfoliating Cleanser a couple of times a week now for about the past month and I think I’m obsessed. In fact, I’ve got my teen using it too! It’s a very gentle exfoliant that still feels like it’s actually doing something. The cleanser is loaded with wonderful natural ingredients like papaya and guava extracts, lychee seed powder, mint, and aloe, along with skincare powerhouses including glycolic acid and amino acids. My skin tends to be dry and sensitive so while I need to exfoliate to get rid of any flakes, my skin tends to feel parched afterwards. Not with this product though. It feels rich and creamy and doesn’t leave my face feeling stripped. Plus, it smells amazing and is available at a mid-range price point.
Formulary 55 Nourish Daily Body Oil
Handmade in Colorado, the Formulary 55 Nourish Daily Body Oil is exactly what my winter skin needs right now. It’s a nourishing but still light-feeling body oil made with rosehip oil, jojoba oil, castor oil and Vitamin E for deep hydration. Best used on damp skin right after a shower this oil smells so good it could double as a fragrance. It comes in a ton of scents, but my favorite is the Vintage Peony, a light and feminine floral aroma.
