Dear Daughter,
It seems like you’re growing up so fast. You were my first baby, and once your brother came along, it’s been a whirlwind. I feel like I’ve missed so much of you while having a newborn. Time isn’t slowing anytime soon, and you’re aging way faster than I’d like. As we all get older, there are some things that I wish for you.
The first one is that I hope to get some more time with you as your brother grows out of toddlerhood
Spending one-on-one time with you is pretty scarce right now as your brother still needs me so much. It will lessen as he gets older, and while a part of me will mourn this, a part of me will be excited to spend time with you again. I hope that we get to know each other in a new capacity with each stage you enter. You have so much growing and changing to do yet, and I will be there to help you through it all.
Another thing I wish for you is for this pandemic to be long gone and for you not to experience another one in your lifetime. I want you to be able to move about without worrying as much about getting sick. I want the restrictions to be lifted and people to be able to go more places without so much fear. For you to meet new people who expand your mind. For you to find friends and fun. I hope that you find a best friend like I had who will be with you for the rest of your life.
People always say they want world peace, but with the conflict going on right now, yes, I hope that the world is more at peace in your future. It’s been a turbulent time recently. I want you to feel safe as you go out into the world and explore whatever you want to seek out.
I want you to follow your passions, whatever they may be
Whether you still want to be a carpenter or a scientist or make up stories like Mommy. No matter how many times you change your mind, I hope you find something that you truly love.
To go along with that, I wish you love. I hope you find someone to spend your life with who makes you happy. If you want to be a mom, I hope that it’s easy for you to conceive, even though it wasn’t for me. I also hope you have an easier time and don’t have PCOS like me. It’s a pain. But, if you do, I’ll be there to help you navigate it as best I can.
I hope you never lose your fire and what makes you you. Always remember how wonderful you are and what a blessing you are. You are the coolest girl I’ve ever known, and I’m proud that I have helped to shape some of that.
Follow your heart and your head
I hope you stand up for what you think is right and what makes you happy. I hope you live life to the fullest and try new things. Life is a crazy, confusing but magnificent journey.
Never doubt how much I love and cherish you. Even when I’m losing my mind. Even when I spend more time with your brother. I always adore you and love you no less. I want you to know that I’m doing the best I can. That everything I do is to help you learn and grow. You and your brother are my dream, and I hope you find yours.
Love,
Mommy
