Step 1
Unplug your humidifier from the outlet. This is an important safety measure to take before you start cleaning it.
Step 2
Remove the water tank from the humidifier and empty it. Dry it out and refill before putting it back in the humidifier. This should be done every day.
Step 3
Empty the humidifier and scrub it out at least once every three days or when you notice a buildup of residue. Scrub the humidifier thoroughly using a scrub brush.
Step 4
Rinse out the humidifier with 3 percent hydrogen peroxide. This is a cleaning agent that is nontoxic. Again, scrub out the tank.
Step 5
Use clean water to rinse the tank several times. Then, dry it out, refill and put back into the humidifier.
