Preschoolers love getting their hands messy by putting together their own creations. Let them dive all in and make crafts that can be put on display throughout your home.

1. No mess Easter bunny
This “no mess” craft promises to keep our tables clean and perhaps our toddlers, too. Squeeze out drops of paint on a piece of paper, then slide the paper inside a large zip-top bag and have your toddler squish the paint around. Your child’s hands will never get messy this way. Once he is done, pull out the paper and you can glue down a cut-out of a paper bunny to make a mess-free bunny craft. Enjoy!

2. Neon-spotted eggs
With those little hands that might break or crack a real egg, there's a way for our toddlers to make fun Easter eggs without the fear of any accidents. With neon-colored dot stickers, have your toddler decorate faux eggs any way she wants.

3. Puffy paint Easter egg
In the hopes of enjoying a messy time with your tot, try a craft that lets your toddler create a rainbow-colored egg out of puffy paint. Cut out an egg shape from slightly heavy weighted paper, and then whip up some puffy paint out of white glue, shaving cream, and food coloring. Let your toddler get his hands messy by designing his own puffy Easter egg.

While elementary-age kids may begin moving away from crafting, use a holiday as way of getting them back into it.

“Crafting and artwork can be very rewarding for children on many levels. It takes them away from the right/wrong world that is often part of everyday school work and into the arena of the imagination, where anything goes,” shares psychologist and parenting specialist, Renee Mills to the parenting blog Child mags.

Easter crafts can be easily made by our older kids, and they can then use them as gift ideas for their friends.

4. Paper hyacinths
Make a vibrant bouquet of flowers that will last for eternity. Using your favorite spring colors, grab colored cardstock or a lighter weighted paper and roll the paper into long green stems and brightly designed hyacinths.

5. Peeps place cardholders
Perhaps your kids will want to have friends over this Easter holiday, or maybe they'll want to help you decorate the family dining table. Either way, they can get involved by putting together these easy-to-make bunny place cardholders. With brightly colored felt shaped into a self-standing bunny, your kid will be able to design a cute table spread.

6. Bunny bags
Before the holiday, let your kids take some goodies to school for their friends in bunny bags. With brown lunch bags, cut the top into bunny ears and take a white pipe cleaner to tie the bag in the middle. Then, draw a simple bunny face on the front, and glue a pompom on the back to complete the look.

7. Accordion leaf wreath
This craft is for those kids who might have a knack for design. Take pastel-colored cardstock and cut out leaf shapes. Then, fold the cut leaves accordion-style to create a natural-looking variety of leaves. Paste the leaves in a desired arrangement onto a wood hoop.

While it's tempting to clean out the Easter products at your local store, there are ways that you can make delightful memorable Easter crafts from materials you already have at home.

8. Modern bunny
Stack popsicle sticks in the shape of a bunny in this do-it-yourself craft. Get the family involved by having your older kids stain mini and regular-size popsicle sticks brown. Once those sticks are dry, show your kids how to lay them out to create the shape of a bunny.

9. Crochet Easter basket
New designs for Easter baskets are always on display in local stores, but wouldn’t it be nice to make a more personalized one? Grab those crochet hooks and have your bigger kids begin crocheting their own Easter baskets.

10. Easter egg balloons
Toddlers love the lightness and bounciness of balloons — so why not make those balloons work as Easter eggs? A toddler’s hands might not be gentle enough yet to paint on the balloon, but they will love to play with the final product. Take inflated pastel-colored balloons and use paint to draw whimsical Easter egg designs on them.

Whichever craft you end up making, know that any family time you get out of it is worth the mess and the work that the craft will take.

“Remember, holidays are about so much more than material objects. Planning a meal together, decorating, and simply spending time as a family will leave a beautiful lasting impression on your kids,” mom Rachel Garlinghouse wrote for Mom.com.
