You never know what may go viral. A young woman on TikTok probably had no idea that when she asked her dad to record a video while opening a package for her, he would become social media famous. But that’s what happened. Maci Keys asked her dad to open her SKIMS package, but it’s not what she got that made him go viral. Her dad’s commentary as he opened the package had people completely entertained. And for good reason. His absolute disinterest while opening the package paired with his confusion about what he was seeing is the stuff dream content is made of.
You can tell he was totally out of his element.

In the video, Keys’ dad uses a pocket knife to cut open the packaging. “What the hell is in here? It’s some damn clothes. What am I supposed to do with this? I can’t try it on cause you ain’t here,” he says, already sounding irritated that he’s agreed to participate in the video.
Then he takes out the item, and can’t quite figure out what he’s holding.
“What the hell is this? A sports bra? Good lord,” he mutters. He continues to turn the sports bra around in his hands, trying to figure out what it’s supposed to look like. Once he gets it right, he gives it a sniff.
“And it smells like frickin’ plastic or some glue.”
Clearly, this dad has had enough, and is ready to be done. “Here goes your stuff,” he says, ending the video.
People were living for the dad’s commentary.
“HE WAS LOOKING FOR THE REST,” one person wrote.
“Good thing he didn’t look at the price,” someone else added.
Another reader picked up on his energy, writing that “he was irritated from the start 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣”

Keys didn’t expect that her dad would steal the show.

Keys, a 21-year-old who lives in Columbus, Ohio, told People that she was out at dinner when the package arrived, but she had been waiting “all day.” She was so excited that she asked her dad to open the package and record the video.
The annoyance her dad showed in the video wasn’t an act, she said. “That’s how he usually acts.”
“He never really cares what I order, me and my mom have stuff delivered all the time,” she explained. “It’s really just the fact that I asked him to take a video of the tank top.”
According to Keys, her dad has his own TikTok account, but he only followed her “after a few days of the video being up.” They had no idea people would react so strongly to her dad’s commentary.
“He thinks it’s silly that so many people are entertained by him opening packages,” she said. And despite his grumpiness about it all, she thinks her dad “secretly enjoys making the videos.”
“As you can probably tell from the first video, he is easily irritated by me, but will still participate anyway.”
They’ve made a few more videos together.

Like Macy Keys said, her dad may be irritated by her request, but he keeps making content. In another video, she has her dad open a series of packages that include jewelry, some dresses, shorts and a swimsuit he said “looks like a banana.”
“Looks like someone is going on vacation,” he said in his typical disinterested dad’s commentary. “Must be nice.
He’s only recorded one more video recently, a solo video where he opens several packages of jean shorts. “I thought these went out of style,” he remarked. “Why did I get rid of all mine?”
