Dad Calls Out Woman for Making a Video About Mom Buying Pull-Ups for Older Kid

Pro tip: if you’re going to make a video speaking about something you have no business commenting on, only to delete your videos afterward, just don’t. In fact, use ‘minding your own business’ as a rule of thumb, especially when it comes to how other people parent. Because before one mom who is a speech therapist judging by her user name did just that, a dad recorded her videos to stitch a reply to them. So yeah, never just assume that your deleted videos are gone forever.

In the dad’s first TikTok, he stitches the woman’s video where she calls out a mom who she saw buy Pull-Ups at Walmart for an older child. He rightfully calls her a “weirdo” and advises her to mind her own business. In another video, the dad goes into more detail about why the woman really has no valid reason to make assumptions about other parents’ children.

The woman thinks she knows why the older kid needs to wear Pull-Ups.

In the stitched video, the woman explains that she saw a woman buy the Pull-Us for an older kid who is nine or 10 years old. According to her, she believes the child might be wetting the bed because they are not getting the right kind of sleep and they need to be able to breathe better. She says she has “no judgment,” but she advises that the mom has the kid’s airway checked.

“It’s not like a mind to bladder thing,” she says, seemingly referencing wetting the bed. “It’s because he’s not breathing well at night, so he’s going into a lighter deep sleep cycle, and then he’s having his accident. So, I wish I could just tell this mom, like, ‘oh you don’t need to go that route, like actually fix his airway.'”

No, no you do not need to tell this mom any of that. In fact, this mom could have any number of reasons for the Pull-Ups and none of them involve a stranger coming up to her at Walmart. They also don’t involve this stranger making a video in said Walmart about her and her child. Just no, all around.

The “Autism parent” called her out on her videos.

The dad who stitched the videos with his own points out that the woman doesn’t necessarily know the story behind why the unnamed mom is buying Pull-Ups for her older kid, and really, it doesn’t really matter. He addresses the woman directly as he speaks into the camera. He points out how the woman took down her videos and then put up explanation videos. For what its worth, it looks like the entire account has been deleted since then. But he takes a minute to explain to her what she did that got parents so upset.

“You took a very vulnerable moment, a child purchasing briefs, and turned it into public content,” he says. “There was no context, no consent. Then you offered a recommendation as if you knew the situation. As a parent of an autistic child, I can tell you that experience is incredibly familiar. Being watched, judged, and being given unsolicited advice by strangers or even professionals.”

Other parents agreed with the dad about minding your own business.

It’s not that hard. All this woman had to do is mind her own business, not make assumptions, and move on with her life. Instead, per the dad’s TikToks, she doubled down on her original video before she took down all of her posts. But now that this parent has spoken about it, other parents chimed in to agree with him.

“How the heck does she even know they were for him?” One user commented on the post.

Another commented with a question directed at the women: “You’re diagnosing people you don’t know?”

A mom wrote, “As the parents of autistic children…makes me very angry.”

Someone else added that the woman’s comments and filming were incredibly “unethical” with her line of work. And another parent said, “Can we normalize minding our own business?” Seriously, though.
