What to Know
Going to the gynecologist is truly one of the most awkward and embarrassing experiences ever. And I know pretty much any person who has ever gone would agree. There is something so unsettling about knowing that person is going to be eye-level with the parts of your body very few people ever get to see. Sure, it’s their job and they get paid, but still. Could you imagine if you could do a video appointment?
A recent video on TikTok is blowing up after the creator revealed they attended a virtual gynecology appointment. People in the comments are noting the hilarity of using a phone for this kind of examination, and they do not disappoint.
Did you even know you could have a virtual gynecology appointment?
Nowadays, you can do a lot of things virtually, including doctor’s appointments. It totally makes sense if you think you may have a cold or maybe even an allergic reaction. But how in the world could a doctor do a virtual pelvic exam?
TikTok user Harmony made a video highlighting the humor of this option.
“What are u supposed to do bring the camera down ,😭” one person wondered. She replied, “like are we bouta be on zoom w my cooch out😒”
People didn’t hesitate to share their thoughts.
“Can you see my hemorrhoid from here, Doc?” one comment reads. Another commenter shared an image of an undressed doll, adding, “In the virtual waiting room like.”
“The OB opening the video call to see you with your ankles behind your ears,” another user wrote. One person joked that they planned on “using my eyelash curler as a speculum.”
It’s impossible not to laugh while reading through this comment section.
“Your doctor like,” is accompanied by a picture of fingers zooming in on a phone screen. “I see scars, old razor?” one person replied.
“All calls will be recorded for quality and training purposes 😀,” another person shared. “I DO NOT CONSENT,” a user replied, sharing a crying meme. “It’s ok it’s for science purposes only,” the original commenter teased.
“When i accidentally joined my work zoom meeting and not my gynecologist,” another person quipped.
This is one of the highlights of using social media.
“So are you supposed to just like turn on the camera and then do number 17 like what’s the plan here?” one commenter asked. “Number 17” refers to the musical ‘Chicago,’ where one of the characters catches her husband and sister doing move 17, “the spread eagle” from their dance routine.
“As an obgyn receptionist i am laughing very hard,” one commenter added.
“The secretary lady joining the zoom first to check my name and seeing me spread eagle,” someone else added. “And then you get a notification that they took a screen recording,” another comment reads.
One user had a very important warning: “PSA: Do not read this comment section in a waiting room full of people 😭.”
