What to Know
Since ICE arrived in Minnesota, the state has been under siege. Armed agents have swarmed the streets, rounding up immigrants, and shipping them off to deportation centers around the country. Brave people began to put themselves between ICE agents, which resulted in the killing of Renee Good. Her death escalated the pushback across the state, with thousands of people protesting in the street. As the protests rage on, one mom is creating a helpful safety measures for traveling in the state. And people are having a lot of feelings about the fact that she has to take think about this.
The mom had to make a necessary trip into the state.
Emma, a mom of five, shared a video on TikTok before taking her young child to the hospital. She showed her little one laying on a changing table as she pulled out a permanent marker and wrote on the baby’s belly. The music “f–k ice” is playing in the background.
“POV you have to go into Minnesota for an appointment,” she wrote on the video.
It’s heartbreaking that she even had to create such safety measures.
“Going to the children’s hospital today so I wrote my mom’s number on my daughter just in case something happens to my husband or I,” she wrote in the caption. “Better safe than sorry 😩 everyone stay safe!”
In the end, you can see the baby smiling with the numbers scrawled on its belly.
Many people commented on how upsetting the whole experience is.
“As a children’s mpls RN- if you can get to us and get on children’s property we will protect you! We have protocols in place to protect the babies and their families. ICE will have to arrest us or sho0t us to get to you. Much love and stay safe,” one person commented.
“I’m so sorry you have to do this. NO one should EVER have to do this. I hate it here!” another commenter wrote.
“As the mom of a gtube toddler this is also my biggest fear. he depends on me to survive. i was born in the US but that doesn’t seem to matter anymore. 💔 ive had several nightmares where ice is taking me & im screaming “BUT HE CANT EAT! HE CANT EAT! HE NEEDS ME!!” & i wake up crying. this isnt right man.”
Some people mocked the mom for being rightfully concerned.

“I think you’re doing too much. Your baby is not gonna go missing.”

A lot of people were shocked by how callous those reactions were.
Given how precarious things are in the state of Minnesota, it is shocking to see people think that Emma is overreacting for taking such important safety measures.
“Anyone saying you’re overreacting is not seeing what we’re seeing and they are being limited in what they can view for social media. You are very smart to write your phone number on your baby,” one person said.
“Yall are severely under reacting. She is very smart for doing this!!!”
“Why are people saying this is overreacting? I’m a white woman with a white child but I’m still afraid of ICE? I don’t expect them to target me individually but I don’t want her or I to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and get hurt in the crossfire,” another parent wrote.
