What to Know
One thing that a lot of parents can agree on right now is how expensive everything is. When you’re raising a child and thinking about things like paying your rent, buying weekly groceries, and shelling out money for their extracurricular activities, it all adds up. When you get a divorce and are working out things like child support payments, the financial concerns can practically double. A popular influencer is facing criticism after posting some content, which was not super explicit, with her young child in the background of a video. Is it as inappropriate as some people are suggesting when they’re someone who does OnlyFans, or was this all fairly innocent and just a single mom’s way of promoting her content? Let’s discuss!
Influencer, Lauren Drain, is facing backlash after posting content with her small child while promoting her OnlyFans page.
You’d have to basically be living under a rock to not know what OnlyFans is. In case it’s just not your thing, OnlyFans is a subscription-based platform that content creators use to monetize videos, photos, and livestreams directly to their fans. There are some OnlyFans creators who use it for much more PG purposes while there are some that use it to monetize explicit content in a more privitized fashion.
Keeping all that in mind, the self-acclaimed bikini pro and fitness transformation coach influencer, Lauren Drain, is facing some heat. According to this Reddit thread, Lauren has been posting recent content that’s promoting her OnlyFans page, which would be all well and good for some, only her young daughter has been seen in some of that footage.
As seen in the video above, Lauren can be seen doing some painting in a pair of cut-off shorts that don’t leave a whole lot to the imagination. As she’s dancing around a little and enjoying herself on camera, you can notice that her daughter is in the background helping her paint some cabinets.
The Reddit account that shared this video, InfluencerLounge, calls this “wild work.” They explain that since this influencer is going through a divorce, “she is actively promoting her OF and posting content WITH her child.” They note that it “makes [them] sick that she posts her daughter online when her followers are all men who buy her OF content.” Okay, that is a fair point.
Is this really as nefarious as it may appear to some or are they making a big deal out of nothing?
There are a lot of heated comments in this Reddit thread about this mother’s choice to show her daughter in her content.
Okay, if we’re coming at things purely from the stance that young children can’t really properly consent to being shown on camera in their parents’ photos and videos, there’s certainly something there that doesn’t sit right with a lot of people.
One person asked, “Wait are there not any laws against this already?” Seriously, how is there not something in place yet that lawfully protects children from being exposed online to potential threats?
Another person decided to take matters into their own hands and divulges that they “just reported it on IG for nudity and sexual exploitation with a child under 18 present. Others should as well!” Well, that’s one way to go about having her content removed from various platforms!
Do some influencers go entirely too far?
This brings us to the whole idea of influencer culture. Nowadays, whether you agree with it or not, many people post their children online. When we’re looking at Lauren Drain and the type of content she shares on her OnlyFans, an individual in this Reddit thread shared how “it’s weird to [them] when people show their kids and sexual content on the same platform.”
There is something to this argument, because is it entirely appropriate to promote your explicit content, which is geared toward adult men, on the same page where you share photos and videos of your child? It doesn’t quite sit right.
Someone on this Reddit thread says that some influencers take things to a whole other level when you try to tell them that you don’t agree with what they’re sharing.
One person explained that they’ve seen that this influencer deletes “any comment on her profile calling her out,” which seems very apparent when you want people to think you’re not doing anything wrong.
Tricky situation.
