Mom’s Brutally Honest Party Invite for Her 5-Year-Old Twins’ Birthday Has Us in Stitches

One mom decided to go brutally honest in a hilarious birthday party invite for her 5-year-old twin daughters. The unique invite message was shared on social media, and it has everyone laughing and fellow moms nodding in agreement.

A mom’s party invite is going viral

Natalie LeClaire, who lives in Ontario, Canada, was going through her son’s school bag at the end of the day and came across a birthday invite.

That’s not unusual, at 5 years old party invites are pretty regular for kids, but there was something about this invite that really stood out.

It was brutally, and hilariously, honest

“I opened his backpack and there was a birthday invitation in there,” Natalie LeClaire told Today.com.

“I started reading it and my jaw dropped. It was so honest and straight up. I was like, ‘I need to be friends with this person.’"

LeClaire shared the invite online and she wasn’t the only one who giggled

The mom who was hosting the birthday party and sent out the invite is Carys Roberts, according to Today. And she’s surprised by the response on social media.

"I'm flattered!" Roberts, whose twin daughters Edie and Elle are turning 5 in July, said.

So, what did the invite say? Well, it said out loud what a lot of us are thinking

“This event is brought to you by Pinterest fails and the Dollar Store so please set your expectations appropriately,” Roberts wrote in the invitation.

“As requested the theme will be ‘unicorns but with rainbows and maybe bats but there should be princesses and also Minnie and we need dancing lights,’ so… dress accordingly,” the invite continued.

“Please pack a bathing suit, sunscreen, puddle jumpers, etc., in case your sweet baby angels decide our original plan sucks and the pool would be a better time.”

The invite mentioned that parents could “drop off and run” or they could stay.

“If you want to stay, we will provide ‘adult juice’ and deny any offers to help to be polite but deep down want the support,” she wrote. “You do you.”

Posting the video online, the clip has more than 5 million views

People were thrilled and in stitches laughing at the invite in the comments section of LeClaire’s video.

"I’m glad a parent is finally lowering the standards/expectations because I’m done with these Pinterest/IG inspired kid parties," one mom admitted.

"I feel like they are weeding out the weak to find their people as well," added someone else.

"This is incredible," another person wrote. "It’s what we’re all thinking when hosting kids parties."

"Please make sure you get this friend a very good gift… wrapped in a Dollar General bag," someone else suggested. "The mom will understand."

Roberts says she’s thrilled people are taking her invite for what it’s meant to be

“Ultimately, I just didn't want anyone to stress about gifts. The last thing we want is for people to be spending a lot of money. We're really low-key," Roberts told Today.

“I’ve received a lot of great feedback, and I’m truly thrilled that people thought the invitation was so relatable and funny.”
