Ring Camera Captures the Moment a Dad Saves His Baby from Choking to Death

There are just some moments in life we'll never forget — not because of the joy they made us feel, but because of how closely they brought us to a life-altering event. For one dad from Phoenix, Arizona, he'll be reliving one of those moments over and over again every time he looks back at his home security footage.

According to reports, it all happened on an otherwise normal evening

Ryan DiRoma had just gone outside to shoot some hoops in his yard when his wife Kalin burst through the backdoor.

"Ryan! She's choking!" Kalin yelled as Ryan instantly put down the basketball and ran inside to help.

As it turned out, the couple's baby daughter Blake had started to choke during dinner

"My wife was feeding my daughter dinner," the dad later told Ring. "She noticed she was having difficulty breathing, and began hitting her back to dislodge the carrot. After several unsuccessful attempts, she rushed to the backdoor to call me for help."

Luckily, the Arizona dad was well-prepared for this situation.

Ryan had been a lifeguard as a teen and was trained in life-saving measures

The second he heard his wife's plea for help, he sprang into action.

Though it had been years since he needed to put his anti-choking skills to the test, they quickly came flooding back.

"I remembered the technique of holding the baby downwards, and hitting her back firmly to dislodge the object," the father later shared.

Incredibly, it worked, and Ryan was able to dislodge the small piece of carrot from his daughter's throat just in time. In the Ring footage, which was only captured on the family's backyard cameras, Blake is heard crying inside the house as soon as her airways become open again.

Moments later, Ryan steps outside with his daughter to calm her down after the scary incident.

The relief that instantly washed over the couple was indescribable

And yet, it's far from the only moment like this to be captured on home surveillance footage.

In 2022, another Ring camera video went viral for showing the moment a good Samaritan woke up a family at night to let them know their garage was on fire. The woman's quick-thinking ultimately saved their lives.

And in 2020, a little girl named Lauren was able to reach her neighbors for help through their Ring doorbell, after spotting a bobcat wandering her neighborhood.
