Guest Cancels Airbnb Within Minutes After Spotting Trump Sign

An Airbnb and animal sanctuary owner who runs a “working rescue farm in North Carolina—where the roosters wake you, goats greet you, and love lives in every corner,” recently took to TikTok to share a story about one of her booked guests cancelling within minutes of driving up to the property because the Airbnb had a Trump sign.

The farm is run by a mother-daughter pair, who run the rental with a co-host named Christina, and it appears that the daughter, Danielle Durham, is the one who runs the farm’s social media accounts and shared the TikTok video.

In the video, Durham claims that she had a guest booked for a stay at the farm who pulled into the driveway and then, after seeing a “Trump” sign affixed on an animal gate, promptly announced that they could not stay on the property and left.

“So our Airbnb guest got here and canceled within five minutes and just left,” a voice explains in the video.

“Said there was no way that she could stay somewhere like this, because she saw this,” panning to a Trump sign on a gate. “She got in her car and drove away and left, and Zoey was sad.”

(Zoey appears to be a dog in the video, in case you're wondering.)

One of the pictures of the exterior of the Airbnb listing shows a Trump sign displayed on an animal gate, and Danielle has posted several other videos showing the sign.

The Airbnb, Outskirts of Heaven Farm, is a 52-acre property in North Carolina, hosted by a mother-daughter team, that has been in operation for nine months on Airbnb. However, it has not yet received a rating because the listing only has two reviews (Airbnb issues a rating after three reviews, according to its policy). A three-night stay on the farm over a weekend will run you over $960.

The farm stay experience is listed as a “cozy, open floor plan apartment” on the “luxury, magical farm estate,” where guests can encounter animals, explore flower-lined trails, or relax by the pool. “It’s a place full of charm, heart, and quiet magic,” the listing reads, adding:

“Note: We know we have a tiny bathroom, its better than an outhouse! My mom [says] you [don’t] come to the farm to spend all your time in the Bathroom! Its a nice updated bathroom, just small; toilet, sink, shower.”

They have no intention of hiding their political affiliation.

After posting the TikTok and receiving a mix of comments, the owners posted several other videos that demonstrated that they have no intention of hiding their political views for their listing. She appears to have doubled down on her MAGA stance and is proclaiming her farm is not “for liberals.”

For instance, she posted the farm's resident pig, "Chippie," proudly wearing a MAGA hat.

They also went on a local news station and posted a video dedicated to their “haters” she said are trying to “cancel” them.

They didn't hesitate to address "the haters."

“Not cancel you,” wrote a TikTok user in the comment section. “Just warn others that your property isn’t safe.”

“Are you scared of happiness and joy?” the farm account responded.

Another video on the farm’s Facebook page shows a “Trumpie Bear” enjoying the property’s many amenities, such as lounging by the pool and relaxing in bed.

“Bear With Me, Libs 🐻 To clarify: it wasn’t a cuddle bear. It was a Trumpie Bear. Sorry not sorry,” Durham captioned the Facebook video.

The critics kept leaving comments.

“Hey so it’s actually not evil to want to cancel an Airbnb where you don’t feel comfortable,” posted TikTok user @abellecatherine.

“It’s just a sign? No. That sign tells me you’re not a safe space. That sign tells me you accept misogyny, racism, and homophobia. Absolutely not. She has a choice in where she stays and who she supports and I’d feel completely unwelcome and uncomfortable after seeing that sign,” added @michaarb02z.

“Did the news tell you to think that way?” responded the Ourtskirts of Heaven Farm TikTok account. “Maybe switch to Disney or Nickelodeon.”

Despite criticism and many comments on their socials, the farm account also appears to be buoyed by the support they have received, posting a joyful, all-capital letters response in the comments.
