Mom-to-Be Has Her Grandparents Help With Baby’s Gender Reveal — but Grandpa is Colorblind

From the moment we see the two pink lines on the pregnancy test, we start to plan out the next nine months of our life and beyond. There are so many exciting things that happen within the span of pregnancy and so many opportunities to share with those closest to us. We get to announce our pregnancy, share the first ultrasound photo, and for many parents-to-be, finding out the sex of the baby with a fun and memorable reveal is a way for the whole family to celebrate.

There's been a huge influx of creative gender reveal ideas

While some people feel these reveals are outdated, many parents still look forward to surprising family and friends as everyone learns the sex of the baby together. There have been so many creative reveals over time – some memorable for being beautiful, others dangerous, and some go viral because of a family member’s reaction.

A pregnant mama wanted to surprise her grandparents

Being able to share the special news with our family is what makes pregnancy so exciting. We’re excited, and often our family is, too. And, honestly, any time we have good news to celebrate, it’s a welcome thing.

That’s why mom-to-be Hope was thrilled to share this moment with her grandparents. She was expecting a baby and wanted to bring her grandparents — and soon-to-be great–grandparents — into the joy with a gender reveal.

Hope set up the reveal and made sure her grandparents had the big honor

For the mom-to-be, she wanted her grandparents to be at the center of the reveal, so she had both Grandma and Grandpa standing on the deck in front of the family. They each hold a confetti popper in their hands. The family counts down, and when they get to the number one, the grandparents are both supposed to twist their poppers that shoot out confetti. If it’s blue confetti that shoots out, the baby is a boy and if it’s pink, it’s a girl.

All eyes were on the grandparents as the family opened the poppers

The countdown started, and Grandma and Grandpa opened up their poppers to a loud cheer from the family and friends watching. As Grandma was jumping for joy, Grandpa stood there confused.

Why? Well, it’s not that he wasn’t thrilled with the results – it’s that he didn’t know what the result was. It turns out, Grandpa is colorblind. That’s right — he couldn’t tell if the confetti was pink or blue. Thankfully Grandma shouted the answer, letting her husband in on the news that brought everyone to celebrate.
