Fast-Fashion Company Shein Blasted for Selling ‘Sexy’ Clothes for Infants and Toddlers

For many online clothes shoppers, fast-fashion website Shein has become the go-to destination for the latest fashion at incredibly low prices. But now the Chinese retailer is coming under fire for selling "sexy" clothing for young girls, including clothes for infants and toddlers.

The Daily Mail online uncovered the outfits, which are certainly "sexy." There is a teal velvet bodycon dress with a sweetheart neckline made for girls ages 8 to 12. The child model is leaning suggestively against a table in the dress, purposely sticking her chest out.

The outlet also reported that the company designed swimsuits for girls with padded cups. "These designs include vibrant colour schemes, playful motifs, ruffles and cut-outs that give the impression they are intended for adults," it wrote. "Some of the child models have completed their outfits with heart-shaped sunglasses and a coconut in hand."

There are plenty of other questionable outfits, including a one-shoulder pink dress made for girls ages 6 months to 3 years, and a feathered crop top and skirt made for girls ages 4 to 12.

Selling clothes for children and women, Shein is a popular online retailer releasing thousands of new clothing items daily. Many items retail for less than $10, which makes it possible to buy in bulk.

In 2022, TikTok user @Cathyrn24 posted screenshots of various little girl outfits. "I was just looking through SHEIN toddler dresses and I can't believe these are even an option," she wrote over the screenshots. "One review was 'sexy and cute' – that's a literal child."

"Disbelief parents are actually buying this for their kids those outfits are for grown women ," she captioned the post.
