What to Know
Anyone who knows me knows that I’m quite handy in the kitchen. It’s my happy place, and I know my way around. But that doesn’t mean I’m not immune from a kitchen mishap. On multiple occasions, I have put tin foil in the microwave. I seriously forget until I see sparks. Once, I put a metal twist tie in there. I’m shocked I didn’t blow anything up. So that’s why I totally understand the plight of a poor dad who’s gone viral on TikTok for his own kitchen faux pas. He did something even worse than metal in the microwave: he baked his iPad. Now, he’s the one getting roasted.
It was the saddest mistake you could make.
The 11-second clip was shared by his daughter Lily on her TikTok account. In the video, the dad can be seen prying his device away from a baking sheet. It’s clear he had just taken it out of the oven. In fact, it was still stuck to the oven rack as well.
While the song “Ode to Joy” plays, the dad makes a sad face to the camera. “@apple any chance he can have a replacement,” the caption reads.

People didn’t hold back with the kitchen mishap jokes.
“Was he doing Apple pie?” one commenter asked. “Yall lucky the battery didn’t catch fire what 😭,” someone else wrote.
Another commenter mused, “You’ve got two Charlie Bingham meals there. Sure you can afford new iPad.” And if you, like me, don’t know what a Charlie Bigham meal is, they’re pre-prepared fresh meals that you can order and heat, and they’re quite pricey!
“Why he looking at you like it’s your fault,” someone else asked. One commenter spoke for everyone when they wrote “like how. why. so many questions.”
Brands couldn’t seem to stay away from the comment section.
“Time for a Samsung..” Samsung Belgium wrote. Computer brand Lenovo chimed in, saying “someone needs a new tablet.” Sandwich chain Subway asked “Have you tried turning it on and off again?”
“iPad kids these days i tell ya 🤭,” Café Bustelo quipped. “Every brand commenting BUT apple,” someone joked.
Sadly, the dad didn’t get a response from Apple.
But Lily posted a follow up, sharing that Charlie Bigham’s had seen the video of his kitchen mishap. Since his meals were ruined when they got cooked with the iPad, the company sent vouchers for some replacements.
“Dear Lily, we hope you enjoyed your meal despite the mishap. Please make sure you take the iPad out next time! Our dishes taste better without Apple (apart from our puddings!),” the handwritten note reads.
