Pets or People
Step 1
Mix 1 quart 3-percent hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda and 1 tsp. liquid dishwashing soap in a plastic spray bottle. This amount is enough for a small dog; double or triple the batch for larger pets or a person.
Step 2
Spray your pet or person thoroughly with the mixture.
Step 3
Rub your pet or person with your gloved hands for five minutes to allow the spray to saturate.
Step 4
Rinse your pet or person well. If the smell is not gone, repeat steps 1 through 3.
House and Other Objects
Step 1
Mix 1 cup bleach and 1 quart water in a plastic spray bottle.
Step 2
Apply the bleach solution to an inconspicuous area to test for colorfastness of house or object.
Step 3
Spray the mixture on the house or other object, thoroughly saturating the area the skunk sprayed.
Step 4
Wait for the area to dry. Repeat steps 1 and 3 if the smell is not gone.
Lawn
Step 1
Mix 1 gallon white distilled vinegar and 1 cup liquid dishwasher detergent in a bucket.
Step 2
Pour the mixture into a backpack garden sprayer.
Step 3
Spray any areas of your yard that carries the skunk smell. The solution will neutralize the scent on contact.
