White Vinegar
The acid in white vinegar provides a grease-cutting ingredient without using harsh chemicals. Pour white vinegar into a spray bottle and mist stoves and countertops. Allow the vinegar to sit for 10 minutes to soften the grease, and wipe away with a damp rag. Use white vinegar on soap scum in the bathroom and in toilets to loosen scale.
Baking Soda
Baking soda provides the necessary gritty action to combat stuck-on food stains without marring surfaces. Scrub sinks by sprinkling the white powder over the sink surface and wiping with a damp dish rag. Sprinkle baking soda over carpets before vacuuming to remove odors and leave the room smelling fresh. Make a paste with baking soda and water and apply to stains on countertops. Leave the paste on for 20 minutes, allowing the paste to soften the stain for easier removal.
Lemon Juice
Lemon juice disinfects and deodorizes. Slice a lemon in half and wipe over countertops and cutting boards to kill germs and bacteria. Adding lemon oil to warm water provides a furniture polish that removes greasy fingerprints or water marks. Spray lemon juice on mold and mildew and allow it to kill the fungus for 30 minutes before wiping away.
