Step 1
Turn on the faucet and run water into the sink drain for 5 to 10 seconds. Do not turn on the disposal yet.
Step 2
Drop 2 to 4 tablespoons of Borax into the disposal drain.
Step 3
Allow the Borax to sit in the disposal without washing it away for at least 15 minutes.
Step 4
Boil a pot of water and pour it into the drain while running the garbage disposal.
Step 5
Drop peels from citrus fruits such as lemons, oranges and limes into the disposal and turn it on with water running.
Step 6
Allow the garbage disposal to run long enough to pulverize the peels. Flush it thoroughly with running water.
