Slathering a grapefruit in honey and ginger and broiling it for a few minutes creates a caramelized crust reminiscent of creme brulee. Enjoy it as a fancy breakfast or light dessert.

RECIPE: Broiled Grapefruit with Ginger
Yields: 4 servings
Active Time:
- 2 grapefruits
- Scant 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup candied ginger, chopped
- 1/3 cup pomegranate seeds
- 1/4 cup mint leaves, sliced in very thin strips
DIRECTIONS:
- Preheat the oven’s broiler.
- Slice the grapefruits in half and place on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Cut a small slice off the bottom of each half to help them stand upright.
- Using a small pairing knife, loosen each section of grapefruit by making small cuts between the fruit, the peel, and the membrane on either side.
- In a small bowl, mix together honey and ginger.
- Drizzle mixture over each grapefruit half and place in the oven to broil for 5 minutes.
- Garnish with pomegranate seeds and mint.
