Having a young child can be really stressful — of course it’s so rewarding, but it’s also tiring! And many parents forget to take time for themselves. When you have a little one (or multiple little ones), their needs always take priority. But it’s impossible to be the best parent you can be if you don’t take time to relax, recharge, and focus on yourself (even if it’s just for a few minutes). The best time for this essential “me time”? Your kids’ nap time! Instead of using these few moments to catch up on chores, take a few minutes for yourself. Here are some of our best ideas for turning nap time into “me time”:
1. Watch A “Grown-Up” Show
Let’s be honest, most parents spend more time watching their kids’ shows than shows and movies they actually want to watch. And while many of these kids shows are surprisingly entertaining, it’s not quite the same as watching a “grown up” show. Next time your kids take a nap, use that time to stream your favorite shows and movies on HBO Max!
2. Reconnect With A Friend
As a parent, it can be really hard to find time to connect with friends. When your kids are napping, take a few minutes to text, call, or video chat with a friend! Even if you only have a few minutes to send a couple of texts, it can help your relationships a lot.
3. Do A Spa Treatment
Most parents don’t have the time or money to go to the spa whenever they want, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find time for self care. When your kids are napping, put on a face mask, paint your nails, or just relax with some cucumber slices on your eyes!
