What to Know
There isn’t much that Donald Trump can say that would make those who oppose him spit out their coffee. At least, not anymore. But when he went viral for making a comment about a daughter being “of age” at “above six years old,” the internet had to take a minute to look at him and ask what in the actual heck he meant by that comment.
You can only do so much tiptoeing around a topic or around a comment before you actually have to face it head on. The context for Trump’s comment was him telling a crowd during a Florida event that getting proper voter identification is important and that it can’t be given to voters by their kids. Which also doesn’t make any sense. But no one really cares about the context at this point.
Trump’s “of age” comment was a doozy, even for his critics.

During the Republican Members Issues Conference in Doral, Fla., Trump spoke about the importance of avoiding voter fraud. Why he’s so concerned with it at this point, after he won two terms in office, is not totally clear. But here he is, talking about voter IDs and preventing fraud.
Trump mentions that some voters’ form of ID was verification from their kids apparently, which would never fly in poll locations, by the way. He explains in a clip from the event, “It can be given to you by your daughter. You know, your daughter. She has to be of age, like above six years old.” I’m sorry sir, what?
The idea is that Trump was apparently trying to say that kids cannot prove their parents’ identity and that, in order to prevent this from passing at polling locations, proper ID is important. But did he honestly have to go there? Apparently, he thought he did, and he has done nothing to backtrack on the comments, which isn’t a huge surprise.
One user commented on the clip from the event on TikTok to ask, “How are Trump supporters going to defend him on this one?” Don’t worry, they’ll find a way. Someone else wrote, “That’s creepy AF.”
Whatever the context was behind his comment still doesn’t make it any better for some.

Despite the reason behind Trump’s comment about children, girls specifically, being “of age” as long as they are above six years old, being out there, Trump’s critics don’t want to hear it. Some view Trump’s comment as a Freudian slip, given his reported connection to Jeffrey Epstein. Others don’t care about the reason because the comment was icky enough regardless.
“I looked up a longer clip,” someone commented on the TikTok. “There’s still no context, he’s literally just rambling.”
“For people saying this is taken out of context…please explain what context makes this right?” Another user wrote in the comments.
And, someone else pointed out, “Idc what the context is but saying six is ‘of age’ is alarming on so many levels to me.”
Apparently, it was about voter ID requirements in Florida, but um, why?
Trump, in the throws of dementia, had a Freudian slip moment at the Republican conference, "girls must be older than six to be of age." For what, exactly?

As long as Trump is alive, there are a few things he will continue to talk about, and those include Joe Biden, Barack Obama, and voter fraud, among many others. For some reason, he is intent on showing how elections are stolen and how the 2020 election was allegedly stolen from him. His “of age” comment came from his speech about voter credentials.
“With or without context, he’s wrong,” another Trump critic added to the comments under the TikTok with the clip. “Entirely wrong. WTF.”
It would seem that no one is really quite as concerned with conspiracies of voter fraud as the guy who believes little girls are “of age” as long as they are over six years old. Hey, he’s the one who said it.
