The New BURSTkids Sonic Toothbrush Has Been Key to Saving My Kids’ Teeth

BURST today released their new kids’ electric toothbrush, the BURSTKids Sonic Toothbrush. I’m not joking when I say that the BURSTkids Sonic Toothbrush has been a game changer when it comes to getting my kids, 9-year-old Sebastian and 6-year-old Sofia, to brush better and more often! After many years of cavities, infections, and the nightly struggle to get them to brush, my husband and I are seeing some hope, which I know will mean way easier dentist visits — and happier teeth ahead!

My son has had issues with his teeth since he was very young

He had cavities from very early on, and although we went for our usual six-month cleanings, he developed an abscess after a bad infection on one of his molars (ouch — we had a pretty useless pediatric dentist back then, but that’s another story).

I’ll admit, though, that a lot of it was on me for not making sure he was flossing daily and not brushing his teeth every single night. But with work and then having our daughter, Sofia, when Sebastian was 2, it complicated things even more. Not to mention that we started Sebastian off with gummy vitamins, which as it turns out contributed to his cavities early on.

We thought it was all better, but then 2020 came...

Up until 2019, pre-pandemic, we had gotten a handle, more or less, on the kids’ teeth situation. They were getting exams and cleanings every six months, and all seemed to be going well. But then the pandemic hit and all that consistency went out the window.

We postponed for more than a year their regular dental checkups and cleanings. With how much they had to give up and how much we lost as a family during 2020, we became a little more lenient with their candy consumption (and the types of candy, I admit with shame). Gummy fruit candies? Sure. Sticky taffy sweet stuff? Go ahead.

When we were finally able to go back to the dentist, it was not smooth sailing

When we finally went back to the dentist, both of them had a few cavities. My daughter had them between her teeth in the back, and Sebastian also in the back. But thankfully, we had just gotten these BURSTkids Sonic Toothbrushes to try. These high-speed electronic toothbrushes have changed everything for them. We got the BURST toothbrushes when the kids had just started a new regular toothbrush, so we used them as their nighttime reward. Of course, they happily and without a fight brushed their teeth at night with their brand-new, adorable BURSTkids toothbrushes, which come in the best colors for kids: blue, pink, and purple!

But the cute colors are just the beginning!

The toothbrush is small and designed for little hands. The silicone feel is so perfect for kids, since it’s easy to grip and feels clean. The brush will vibrate for exactly two minutes, the recommended brushing time to make sure teeth are clean. While brushing, the BURSTkids brush will signal with a gentle vibration every 30 seconds, indicating when it’s time to switch quadrants of their mouth to brush to clean. That is so genius!

Oh, and I need to mention the packaging. The way that the BURSTkids brush is packaged feels very on-trend with what kids love these days: unpacking. My daughter is obsessed with those little dolls that have to be unwrapped and have many different surprises everywhere. Not that the packaging is wasteful, but it’s designed so that it feels like the toys that kids love to unwrap these days.

I know our next dentist appointment will be much different! Thanks to my kids’ love of their new BURSTkids brushes, their smiles and future dentist appointments are going to look much better! (And hopefully no more of those multiple-cavity nightmares!)
