5 Tips For Getting Your Kids Interested In Music

Parents everywhere want to foster a love of music in their kids. While lots of people choose to enroll their children in music lessons when they hit elementary school, there are actually a lot of ways to encourage your kids’ musical interests even before they start school. Check out some of the best ways to get your kids interested in music as babies and toddlers!

1. Sing to them!

Even if you don’t consider yourself a great singer, humming a tune or singing a song you like to them can introduce them to the basics of music. You can even sing to your belly before your baby is born!

2. Watch musical TV shows and movies.

If your kid loves watching videos, sit down and watch something that features fun music (Frozen, anyone?)!

3. Have dance parties around the house.

Blast the radio (the kid-friendly stations, of course) and dance around! This can teach babies and toddlers about rhythm and movement.

4. Buy musical toys!

If you play an instrument, show off your musical skills alongside your kids — make sure to get them their own instruments (like maracas, drums, or Little Tikes’ Tap-a-Tune® Xylophone) so they can play along!
