Tori Spelling has been a television darling for much of her life, having starred in Beverly Hills 90210 beginning when she was just 17 years old. She has been a fixture on the small screen since then, starring in a slew of made-for-television films and shows like the VH1 sitcom So Notorious.
She is now a mom to five kids she shares with her husband, Dean McDermott, and it turns out that her latest television stint was one of the most impactful.
Tori was a recent contestant on the Masked Singer and revealed on Mom.com’s latest podcast, The Breakdown with Bethany, that this show helped her with her confidence. “The journey doing it has been so amazing, because what I didn’t realize is that it’s not just singing and performing. It’s actually being behind a mask,” Tori says. “Being in the public eye my entire life, I have always felt like I have amazing fans, but then I have people that judge me. They hear my name, they judge me. They see my face, they judge me. They see what show I was on, they judge me.”
“Being inside a mask, I could be confident,” Tori says. “I could be anyone I wanted to be. They didn’t know it was Tori Spelling… It was such a freeing feeling; I can’t even tell you. I loved it. Whenever I wear that mask, I literally, I stand up straighter than ever. My shoulders are back; I have so much confidence. It just stays with me. Any time we have ebbs and flows in life, it starts to dip. I’m like, Masked Singer. Then I’m like, ‘Oh, right back there.'”
