In recent years, there have been a lot of conversations about nepo babies — the children of celebrities who become famous in their own right. Celebrity kids stealing the spotlight from their famous parents isn’t a new phenomenon, but each generation has their own way of establishing themselves. Actress Teyana Taylor, who has been getting a lot of buzz this award season, might be raising the next generation of nepo babies. She recently appeared at the Actor Awards (formerly the SAG Awards), and brought her young daughter Rue Rose as her date. And I hate to say it, but Rue was the bigger star that night.
The pair was clearly enjoying their mother-daughter night out.
Taylor was nominated for the Actor Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for playing the role of Perfidia in ‘One Battle After Another.’ Five-year-old Rue stole the show while appearing with her mom on the red carpet.
Not to let her superstar mom have all the fun, Rue got on the microphone during one of the many red carpet interviews Taylor did, which was shared on X.
“I wanted to say, this is such an honor for me being here,” the tot began. “And I wanted to thank you guys for my mom and this wonderful day. All of your outfits look really good, and I’m mostly saying this for my mom.”

Teyana Taylor could not be more proud.
As soon as the little one finished speaking, it was clear that her mom was feeling all the love. She quickly kneeled down on her daughter’s level, wrapping her up in a big hug.
“So cute,” one person replied.
“She is so smart,” another person wrote.
“As My Grandmother would say, ‘She has Good home Training.’ Remember those little 👀 r Always Watching & little ears r Listening.”
That wasn’t Rue’s only big moment on the red carpet.
In another video taken by Variety and shared by the X account Film Updates, Rue can be seen fixing the train of Taylor’s dress while she poses for the dozens of photographers. When she’s done, she runs off to the side, where someone brings her behind a curtain.
“Rue said ‘Mom, stay still, you’re representing the brand.’ The youngest Creative Director in Versace history,” one user joked.
“Not the glam squad being replaced by her own daughter,” another user wrote. “That’s not just red carpet fashion — that’s legacy, love, and a core memory being made in real time. From fixing the dress today to owning the carpet tomorrow.”
Mom better watch her back, because her baby girl is coming for the spotlight.
Another X user shared a video of Teyana Taylor speaking with Entertainment Tonight, and yet again, Rue Rose stole the show. “My name is Rue Rose and my age is five,” the little cutie told the interviewer.
Taylor explained that her little diva was striking poses on the red carpet by herself. “I had to look over like, ‘is that the next pose I should do?’” she joked. “Rue Rose did this pose, so I’m gonna do this pose.”
Rue then asked if she could “sing a song,” before launching into “Let It Go” from ‘Frozen.’ She then asked if she could sing a song from “Rapunzel,” but couldn’t remember it. Taylor gently suggested that they do some more interviews, and then if she remembered, they could come back.
What an amazing duo.
