Lisa Marie Presley’s Ex-Husband Scores Win in Bid to Control Their Daughters’ Inheritance

There's been a development in the ongoing battle for Lisa Marie Presley's estate. Her ex-husband, Michael Lockwood, has been appointed guardian of their 14-year-old twin daughters, Harper and Finley, which means he will now control the inheritance they receive from their late mother.

Michael filed a petition to become their guardian ad litem in March

According to People, Michael wrote in legal documents that he was seeking the appointment in the case because "the minor is a beneficiary of a trust at issue before the probate court in the above-referenced case. The minor requires appointment of a guardian ad litem to represent her interests in the proceeding."

Harper and Finley both signed forms consenting to him becoming their guardian ad litem, and the final decision was made on Thursday.

"Lockwood has a good, collegial, familial relationship with all of the parties involved. He is not only legally bound but also morally bound to protect [the twins'] interests," attorney Scott Rahn told the judge.

But this isn't the end of the challenges that he will have to meet along the way.

Priscilla Presley contested the will in January

Before her death, Lisa Marie had amended her will to remove mom Priscilla and business associate Barry Siegel as executors of her will, instead appointing daughter Riley Keough and late son Benjamin Keough in her place.

Priscilla claims that the amendment is invalid, because the signature on it doesn't appear to be Lisa Marie's usual signature, along with other inconsistencies.

Reportedly, the situation has led to a rift between Riley and Priscilla

In fact, Riley was so upset over the whole thing that she even skipped the UK premiere of her series, Daisy Jones and the Six.

"She is heartbroken that this has turned into a public matter and knows her mother would never want this," a source told Entertainment Tonight in February.

The next hearing will take place on May 16

It seems like it may end up being a long road to get Lisa Marie's estate figured out, but hopefully, in the meantime, Harper and Finley are being surrounded by love and support as they continue to mourn the unexpected loss of their mother.
