Justin Trudeau is a proud papa. The former prime minister of Canada is celebrating that his 17-year-old daughter got the college she most wanted. Spring is college season, with many kids and their parents nervously anticipating whether or not they’ll be attending their dream school in the fall. It’s awesome that his daughter got into her first pick school, and it’s really sweet that Trudeau wanted to commemorate the moment publicly. And he isn’t the only one who’s excited. His sweetheart Katy Perry also expressed her support and praise for his daughter’s accomplishment.
He shared a sweet throwback photo to commemorate the moment.
Justin Trudeau posted a picture of him and Ella-Grace that was clearly taken a few years ago. In the photo, Trudeau is standing in the corner looking at his phone, and his daughter is sitting at his desk with her feet up, clearly posing as a future leader.
“Proud dad moment: finding out my daughter got accepted to her top pick university,” he captioned the post. “Congratulations, Ella-Grace! So proud to see the woman you’re becoming.”
Katy Perry, who has been linked to Trudeau since 2025, commented “Queen!” showing that she is also excited for Ella-Grace’s big moment. Her comment has gotten thousands of likes.
People are loving how Katy Perry shows up for her man.

“Mommy, you are the only queen👑” someone else wrote.
“You are a trully Queen, Mother Katy Perry,” another commenter wrote.
Another fan told Perry, “you made me love him more.”
She wasn’t the only person happy for Ella-Grace.
There were many other well wishers in the comments who wanted to offer congratulations for such a wonderful accomplishment.

It’s clear that Justin Trudeau is a dad who loves his not-so-little girl. On February 5, 2026, he posted an adorable pair of pictures to commemorate her 17th birthday.
In the first picture, a tiny Ella-Grace is posing in front of boats on what is likely a family vacation. And in the second picture, it’s her and her dad on a more recent trip together.
“Happy 17th birthday, Ella-Grace! I am the proudest girl-dad in the whole world. I love you so much!” he wrote.
And in August 2025, he shared a series of sweet snaps from their father-daughter vacation.
“Third of the kid trips this summer: Italy with Ella-Grace. Loved exploring Rome, Siena, Florence and Lake Como with her,” he wrote.
