18 of the Cutest Photos of Prince Harry & Meghan Markle’s Son Archie

Meghan Markle didn’t have a traditional post-birth photo shoot on the hospital steps like Kate Middleton had. Instead, she and Harry waited a few days to introduce their son to the world. We barely got a peek at his tiny face, but we could already tell he was going to be such a cute little baby.

From that same first photo shoot came this photo, which we just adore. The look of love is written all over these parents’ faces as they gaze down at their little boy. There’s nothing quite like becoming a mother or a father for the first time, and the duo was clearly still basking in the glow of that feeling.

Some people never meet the Queen, but Archie did within his first few days on earth. Her majesty is supposed to be first to learn of all royal baby news, so she was also among the first family members Archie met. With her was Prince Phillip and also Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland. Such a happy family affair.

For her first Mother’s Day as a mom herself, the Duchess of Sussex posted this cute photo on Instagram. What many people might not know is that it also pays tribute to Princess Diana. The flowers behind Archie’s little feet are forget-me-nots — Diana’s favorite flower. What a sweet nod to Harry’s mom on Mother’s Day as well.

On Father’s Day 2019, we finally got our first good look at Archie’s face. He peeked out behind his dad’s hand in this cute picture. He was only about a month old here, and still so tiny. His whole fist can grab only one of Harry’s fingers! The prince must have had such a special Father’s Day as a first-time dad.

Archie’s christening was a whole royal affair. He got to wear the special lace gown that all his cousins wore on their own christenings, and the royal family all turned out for the occasion — including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and two of Princess Diana’s sisters. Only the Queen couldn’t make it.

Taken the same day of his christening, this photo captures the true love that exists in this family. Archie napped peacefully during the photo shoot as Harry gazed down at him and Meghan gazed happily at her husband. They may have felt isolated within the royal family, but at least they always had one another.

Although this picture was also taken during Archie’s christening, fans didn’t see it for months. Meghan later posted it on Instagram as part of a birthday tribute to Prince Harry. “Your service to the causes you care so deeply for inspires me every day. You are the best husband and most amazing dad to our son. We love you,” she wrote.

Both Prince Harry and Prince William play polo, and for years we’ve been watching Kate and the kids cheer Will on from the sidelines. Before their exit from the royal family, Meghan and Archie attended one of Harry’s games, and the paparazzi was on hand to snap a few pics of the duchess and her son. We never got to see Archie’s face, but it’s fun to know that he got a chance to see his dad play — even if he maybe didn’t understand what was going on.

We’ve seen firsthand how much Prince Charles loves his grandkids, and though we haven’t seen him interact with Archie much, we did get this cute photo from Archie’s christening day. Look how excited Prince Harry is to be showing his son off to his father. Such a proud papa. Also Archie is so serene here; what an angel child.

In his first (and apparently only) royal tour, Archie visited South Africa with his parents in late 2019. Meghan and Harry brought Archie along with them to meet Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and we all got to see how cute he was in his little striped overalls. This is also when it began to be clear that he has his dad’s red hair.

During that same visit, the Sussexes shared this compilation of Archie being adorable. We saw him smiling, laughing, high-fiving the Archbishop, and dancing with his mom. He already had so much personality at just a few months old. It’s kind of sad to know we won’t get to see as much of Archie growing up as we will the Cambridge children.

Archie’s little face was front and center on the Sussex Christmas card in 2019. That’s the year Harry and Meghan elected to have a private family Christmas rather than join the Queen for all of her festivities. We can’t blame them for wanting to share Archie’s first holiday season just with each other.

During the brief time they lived in Canada, the Sussexes shared this sweet picture of Archie and Harry enjoying the great outdoors. The hat Archie wore was too cute, and it almost immediately sold out upon the release of this photo. Such a little Instagram fashion influencer already! He’s built for that L.A. life, huh?

Instead of releasing a typical formal portrait for Archie’s 1st birthday, Meghan partnered with a charity. She read a book with her son to help raise money for children in need. It was a win-win for everyone. The charity got help, and we got to see how much Archie had grown. Such a wiggly, happy baby!

We wish we could see the real photo that inspired this illustrated 2020 Christmas card, but we’ll take what we can get with this private family. It was cute to see Archie’s little playhouse at his new California home with his dogs, and to see how big he is getting. At one and a half, he has such a head of red hair!

During Meghan and Harry’s bombshell Oprah interview, the couple also showed some new footage of young Archie playing on the beach with his parents and his pups. It was in black and white, so we couldn’t see his red hair in person, but it was the first time in a long time we’d gotten to see how much he’s grown.

Shortly after the interview where the duo confirmed that Meghan is expecting a baby girl, the couple shared this sweet family photo. The duchess cuddled Archie on her baby bump while Harry gave her a kiss on the cheek. This family has been through a lot in just a couple of years, but they’ve made it through together.
