What to Know
A pair of conjoined twin influencers known as Valeria and Camila are stirring up some serious conversations on Instagram about how valid their account is. Serious might be too strong of a word, because how serious can the topic of influencer twins really be at a time when influencers run the internet? But less than two months after Valeria and Camila started their joint account, they were exposed for an allegedly big secret.
The conjoined twins post daily with what appear to be professional photos and they even, according to The Tab, shared Q&A sessions in their Instagram Stories. You know, just in case you needed something else in order to believe how legit they are. But now, per Daily Mail, Valeria and Camila were called out for what the truth is behind the Instagram account.
The conjoined twin influencers were exposed on social media.
As followers questioned how the twins could be as perfect as they are and others took to just leaving complimentary comments under each post, Daily Mail spoke to an AI specialist who claimed that the account is 100 percent AI-generated. Yeah, that’s got to sting for Valeria and Camila’s most dedicated admirers.
AI prompt engineer Andrew Hulbert told the outlet, “These images are the personification of what the media thinks beauty is and there isn’t a flaw amongst any of them.”
But what about filters, you say? Sure, the right filters and editing could make someone’s social media photos look close to perfect. But there is more about the alleged conjoined twins’ appearance that struck Andrew, per Daily Mail. He said that the eyes are just too perfect to be real.
“Too polished/glamorous/perfect like a barbie doll,” he said. “These ‘people’ look like they just came out of a box. Life doesn’t work that way.”
There are also a couple of posts on the account that prove what Andrew said is true with the conjoined twins actually being AI-generated and as far from real life women as you can get.
In one post, Valeria and Camila walk hand-in-hand with another alleged influencer who is shown in other posts on the account. In this photo, though, everyone’s face has that familiar AI glow to it that can only be achieved by being computer generated rather than edited.
Another post shows them with yet another unnaturally perfect social media model. The women share an ice cream cone in an ice cream parlor. And that would be totally fine, except that the menu on the wall behind them is mostly gibberish. There are a few things AI still hasn’t perfected, and getting the correct spelling in signs is one of them.
The twins’ photos often show them with friends who seem to be as unreal as them.
If they aren’t real, then chances are, their supposed friends aren’t actual people either. But tell that to Valeria and Camila’s more than 300,000 followers. While some have commented that they can see the telltale signs of AI in the posts, others are still insistent that the twins have to be real. It’s a whole thing.
