Those who love the Magic Mike movies know that they're inspired by Channing Tatum's real life past as a stripper. At this point, it's no big deal to those who follow his career … but what about his kid? In a new interview, Channing revealed when he'll tell his daughter he was a stripper, because truly, honesty is the best policy — no matter how awkward it might be.
Channing is promoting a brand-new 'Magic Mike' movie
Considering the franchise has produced two hit movies and a live Las Vegas show, it's no surprise that a third is on the way. Also starring Salma Hayek, Magic Mike's Last Dance will hit theaters on February 10, and it's giving Channing the chance to talk about his past that ties in so well to the movies.
So far, Everly doesn't know about her dad's former job

And that makes sense, considering the fact that she is only 9 years old. But that doesn't mean that Channing isn't already thinking about when he'll have to come clean with the daughter he shares with ex Jenna Dewan.
When the time is right, he'll tell her everything — but it might not be for a while.
Channing says he'll have the conversation when she watches 'Magic Mike'

While talking to Entertainment Tonight, he shared that he will wait to tell her about his past until she's old enough to watch Magic Mike, which might be a few years in the future, since the movies are rated R.
"When she's old enough to watch them, we'll have that conversation," he said. "There's no version of me not having the conversation of 'Dad didn't just do them in movies, I was an actual stripper,' so I'm not gonna lie to her."
The third movie will likely be the last

It sounds like the live productions of Magic Mike will continue to live on, but as far as the movies go, it sounds like this will be the last one. Hopefully, it will wrap things up nicely for the fans.
"I can't tell you there's gonna be another [film]," he admitted.
Here's hoping Channing's future conversation with Everly goes smoothly

Given how close their relationship seems to be already, it looks like Channing has a good handle on the right way to approach the situation. There's nothing wrong with being a stripper, of course, and while it might be hard for her to picture her own dad in that way, hopefully Everly will be as impressed as the rest of us are that he turned that experience into a franchise that so many people enjoy.
