Today show co-anchor Carson Daly has revealed that his unconventional marital sleep hack is still helping him and wife Siri catch some much-needed z's. The busy celeb dad confirmed that his "sleep divorce" is still mostly in effect two years after he first told fans about it. As the saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
Carson first shared the details about his unusual sleep arrangement during a 2020 interview
The 48-year-old TV personality was discussing his health when he made the big reveal that he and Siri had gone their separate ways in the sack. "We're both pretty good-sized humans, and it just wasn't really working when she was in her third trimester, and I also have sleep apnea, which is very sexy for the ladies out there, I'm sure," he said during a chat with People.
Carson and Siri agreed that it might be worth a trial separation to see if their sleep could improve
After many sleepless nights that the couple spent "kicking each other," Carson said they got the bright idea to try something new. "We woke up and we just shook hands like, 'I love you, but it's time to sleep divorce. It'll be the best thing for all of us,'" he recalled.
The good news is that it seemed to work — and maybe a little too well.
Carson says he and Siri are still sleeping in separate beds two years later
"I was served my sleep divorce papers a few years ago," Carson told the Today audience on Friday, reminding everyone how he had previously revealed his surprising sleeping arrangement. "It's the best thing that ever happened to us. We both, admittedly, sleep better apart."
Although it sounds like Carson does occasionally snuggle up with his wife.
The doting father rotates his sleeping quarters as needed
To hear Carson tell it, he's happy to change up the sleeping arrangements in order to make things work for both himself and Siri. "We've reconciled a little bit, so we're just sleep separated," he explained. "So some nights I'm in the bed, some nights I'm on the couch or in the guest room."
Hey, we're big fans of doing whatever it takes to get a good night's sleep!
While Carson's cohosts may have balked at the idea, we're totally into it
Siri and Carson are raising four kids together — 13-year-old Jackson, 9-year-old Etta, 7-year-old London, and 2-year-old Goldie — which means that sleep is likely in high demand but in low supply. Carson's Today colleague Tom Llamas may have balked at the idea of a sleep divorce, but we're totally OK with parents doing whatever they need to do to stay healthy and get the rest they need.
