You know that phenomenon where you learn a new word and then suddenly you hear it everywhere?
Having a 10-pound baby is like that.
I didn't know anyone who had a baby that big, but after I had a 10-pounder of my own last month, everywhere I go, I meet someone who has had one (The parking lot at Sam's Club! The library, church, even my aunt!).
And while most people upon hearing that I delivered a gigantic baby wince a little, every person who's had a 10-pound baby smiles and says, "They are the BEST babies."

Here are five reasons that I love having a big baby.
1. They SLEEP
I wish I could say that my 2-week-old baby was sleeping through the night, but since that's not exactly true, I won't complain about how well she DOES sleep. Every single mom who has had a 10-pound baby has mentioned the same thing. Those little chunksters are good snoozers.
If you had to push out a baby that big, you might as well get to brag about it a little.
2. You don't have to worry quite so much
I don't know if it's possible to have a newborn and not worry SOMETIMES, but since they are so big, you don't have to worry about them getting sick quite so much.
3. Eating
The nurse at the hospital told me, "These big babies were MADE to eat." And it's true. From the moment she was born, she latched right on and has been a voracious eater ever since (which has probably contributed to the good sleeping too).
4. Diapers actually fit
And also newborn clothing. Usually my babies (in the 7- and 8-pound categories) have been swimming in newborn diapers and clothing for the first few weeks. This time around, there are a lot less blowouts because those diapers actually fit around her little waist and legs. And anything that decreases blowouts is a huge plus in my book.

5. Bragging rights
There's at least some bit of Mommy Honor in having grown and delivered a 10-pound baby. And if you had to push out a baby that big, you might as well get to brag about it a little.
