This is a spin on a recipe included in Waring's 1947 Pick Ups and Cheer Ups from the Waring Blendor (yes, they spelled blender with an o). Not to upset you, but in a misguided attempt to trick children into eating meat, Waring had a liquid Liver Milkshake included among his recipes.
Ingredients:
- 1 large peach
- 3 ounces (90 mL) Southern Comfort
- 1/2 ounce (15 mL) fresh lime juice
- 1/2 ounce (15 mL) fresh lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons raw sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup (237 mL) cracked ice
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Cut the peach in half, remove the pit, and place the peach halves ungreased on a hot grill. Grill until deep checkerboard has marks appear for the best flavor.
- Remove the peach halves from the grill and place them on a baking sheet in the oven for approximately 10 minutes or until a knife easily pierces the skin.
- Allow to cool and remove the skin with peeler.
- Combine the peach and the remaining ingredients in a blender and blend on high for approximately 10-20 seconds, or until smooth.
- Serve immediately in chilled glasses garnished with slices of fresh peach.
