Parents Showed Up to Their Kid’s Softball Game With a Full Liquor Store & Everyone Has Thoughts

Sitting at the sidelines for youth sports is not for the weak, especially if it’s extremely cold or hot outside. So when a group of parents got together to make the most of the experience and share loads of alcohol in one big cooler, they thought they stumbled upon some new idea of how to get through the lulls in their kids’ games.

Unfortunately, when someone shared a video of the parents showing which kind of alcohol they each brought on X (formerly Twitter), people weren’t happy. Having one fun covered drink in a Stanley is one thing but, according to some people on X, this is just too much. To some, it also speaks to how much these particular parents appear to want to be anywhere but at their kids’ games.

The parents brought everything, from beer to liquor.

In the video, the parents stand in a line and introduce themselves as the parent of whichever kid is theirs, They then say what they brought and dump it into a cooler. It’s similar to the candy salad viral videos that kids and adults do on TikTok. One mom brings tiny liquor bottles. Another mom puts several White Claw cans in the cooler.

There are also bottles of Smirnoff, BuzzBallz, and Twisted Teas. There’s something for everyone, provided, of course, that the parents all plan to get absolutely hammered while watching their kids play softball. That’s the biggest issue that some people have with the amount of alcohol these parents brought in order to, from the look of it, endure a game.

Other parents called them out for the alcoholic beverages at a kids’ sporting event.

Some parents commented on the X post to shame the parents. One user wrote that the parents are “terrible” role models for their kids. Another person commented to say that youth sports have become like a “party for the parents” with the sidelines activities, this included.

The user who posted the video commented on it to say, “These people are ‘proud’ of this! It’s actually sad that that’s where they’re at in life. They won’t be able to remember watching their kids play ball. Solid parents!”

Another person who was quick to criticize the parents wrote, “Teaching kids that you need alcohol to have ‘fun’ as an adult is terrible parenting. All fat and probably yell from the stands like idiots.”

“I like alcohol but I have a disdain for parents that get loaded at kid included functions,” an X user wrote. “I just see a bunch of alcoholic losers.”

Someone also called out the parents who are trying to relive some kind of glory days by getting attention on the sidelines.

“The secondhand embarrassment I’m feeling right now is actually insane,” they wrote. “Imagine your parents being the main characters of the drama before your game even starts, like can we just let the kids play?”

Not many parents and adults were willing to let these parents off the hook for the video. Some wrote that they understand the pressure and monotony of travel softball leagues, which is what the parents in the video might be dealing with. But for some, it doesn’t necessarily excuse the behavior.

“Parents like these are part of what’s ruining youth sports,” someone wrote on X. “Are you seriously telling me you can’t enjoy watching your kid play unless you’re shitfaced? Idiot losers one and all- the game isn’t better when you drink, you aren’t more fun to be around and the calls won’t change.”

To be fair, though, other users commented on the X post to share other perspectives that make sense. Some argued that these parents might not be drinking a wild amount, but that it just seems like it from the collective amount that was brought to the game. Others speculated that the cooler of drinks is actually part of a fundraiser, which is also totally possible.
