Parents Are Divided on How Safe Disney Cruise Childcare Is

For some parents, all-inclusive only really means all-inclusive if there is also a kids club, childcare option, in-suite nanny, or some random combination of those that is also included in the cost of a trip. For others, the idea of dropping their kids with a stranger at a resort or on a cruise for an entire day and evening is just unthinkable. And yes, that includes a Disney Cruise.

When one woman, Tati Thomas, posted on TikTok that “the best part of the Disney Cruise” is dropping her kid at the childcare center in the ship, the comments were divided. Some parents shared in the delight of getting to enjoy the amenities of a cruise ship while their kids have fun elsewhere. But others were a bit more hard and fast with the whole “no strangers” rule they live by, both inside and outside of international waters.

Some parents think Disney Cruise Childcare should not be trusted.

@tati_thomas The kids club is alllllll of our favorite part. Mom needs some silence. Dad needs a n/a beer. Milani needs to go play with kids who have as much energy as her 😅 #disneycruise #disneycruiseline #dcl #kidsclub #DisneyAdult ♬ Nothing Can Stop Us Now – From “Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway” – Mickey & Minnie

Disney is a multi-billion-dollar corporation with movies, TV shows, parks, cruises, and so much more. Even so, some parents just don’t budge on handing their children off to strangers on a cruise, even if there are safeguards in place.

“Trusting completely random strangers alone with your kids and so crowded,” someone commented. “I would be so scared.”

“I won’t even leave my kid in a gym daycare,” someone else wrote. Another parent added, “How do they make sure no one leaves with your kids? I want to do it but am paranoid someone would take them.”

That’s a valid fear, especially for those uninformed about Disney Cruises or even cruises in general. For some parents, there is a lot that could go wrong. In Tati’s video, her daughter seems more than happy to enter that kids’ area through a freaking slide. There is no doubt that kids have plenty of fun with the childcare employees on the ships. The issue other parents have is what could go wrong. Yes, the same can be said for childcare outside of Disney Cruises, but these same parents probably have reservations about that too, just an fyi.

“After watching the Amy Lynn Bradley documentary on Netflix, there’s no way I’d feel comfortable leaving my child on their own on a cruise ship, or anywhere like that,” a parent wrote under the video. “I’d be way too paranoid.”

Disney parents are hardcore defending the cruises, though.

Other parents under Tati’s video on TikTok all but shouted from the rooftops about how much they enjoy taking advantage of the childcare offered on Disney Cruises. It gives them a chance to have a bit of a break and get in some adult time with adult friends or a partner. And, according to some, it gives their kids time to play and interact with other children in a controlled environment.

Another parent experienced in Disney Cruises commented, that “their kids club policy is so strict that my dad tried picking up my daughter from kids club once and even though he was listed as someone who could pick her up they would not let me take her because he didn’t remember our ‘password’ you have to also tell them! Awesome protections in place!”

And, an admitted “helicopter mom” commented that she willingly uses the Kids Club on Disney Cruises.

“We were on the same cruise,” another parent wrote in the comments “My daughter LOVES the kids club and honestly I get FOMO because they all have so much fun.”

But just because there are parents who are ready to defend Disney Cruise childcare with ten toes down, it doesn’t make up for the parents who would legitimately rather stay home than potentially put their kids at risk. At least, according to them.

The mom said there is nothing quite like Disney’s Kids Club.

@tati_thomas Replying to @Momlife.Gymlife someone tell her about the insane security measures in the kids club 😂😂😂😂 bc @TimeForTravis says we shouldn’t … One thing nobody can do is out-mom me. I guarantee it. I have the time & the money & the insanity 😂✌🏽 #disneycruise #disneycruiseline #dcl #disneykids #youcantoutmomme ♬ original sound – Tati Thomas

Apparently, the naysayers when it comes to the Kids Club on Disney Cruises just don’t know or understand what they are getting with this childcare option. Tati posted a follow-up video in response to the parent who commented that they don’t even use a gym daycare for their kid. Tati simply says in her video that someone needs to tell her. In other words, people who have never experienced the Kids Club just won’t get it unless someone explains how legit it is, per Tati’s videos. But parents are still divided on what to trust.
