Disney Couple Slammed for ‘Seeking Attention’ by Sharing Infertility Struggle

For some, there are few things cringier than Disney adults. You know the types. They don their best and brightest Disney gear and head to any Disney Park they possibly can and as often as they can to enjoy the magic of Disney. For those outside of this subculture, it’s a little much. So when a couple suffering from fertility struggles posted a TikTok with “infertility sucks” hoodies, people came for them in the comments. Hard.

While some users were quick to stand up for the pair, citing the stigma that those facing infertility deal with, others weren’t having it. They looked past the meaning behind the hoodies to what they saw as the couple trying hard to get attention at Disneyland. And, even when others shared their own perspectives about fertility struggles in the comments, those snarky users came out a bit louder.

People say the Disney couple is doing too much for attention.

The video is short. It shows a shot of the couple with their hoodies, and then the camera pans to one of the Disney castles. Text on the screen explains, “Infertility sucks. So we came to Disney.” This seems to be the couple’s way of coping as they deal with their struggles and move forward with their journey to start a family.

But the nature of the meaning on the hoodies, and the fact that Disneyland is a family park, is what got to some people.

“Okay but why wear those hoodies at a kid theme park?” Someone commented on the video. “Trauma dumping at Disneyland is crazy.”

“Excuse me, waiter!” Another user wrote. “One large glass of attention please!”

The attention theme is rampant in the comment section under the video. From the couple creating content at Disneyland to their hoodies, according to some, the thirst for attention is very real with these two, never mind the reason behind their hoodies.

Someone else wrote, “Why make everyone uncomfortable at Disney?”

According to someone else, this is an egregious case of oversharing. They commented, “Can we go back to when we didn’t overshare to strangers in public places?”

It’s not that everyone in the comments is totally heartless. I mean, OK, some definitely are, because this is the internet and this is social media. But even for some of those who expressed some sympathy, they ended their comments with a snarky note to make their feelings heard.

Naturally, one user couldn’t help but comment, “So now everyone gotta know y’all’s business?”

The couple responded to the hate about their Disney hoodies.

@madifurg Infertility is already hard enough. The people going through it deserve understanding, support, and connection. 🤍 #iseeyou #infertility #🍍 ♬ Let's Go (feat. Twista & Lil' Jon) – Trick Daddy

After the couple shared their Disney video, they posted another with screenshots of some of the most hurtful and most compassionate comments. For them, the supportive comments outweighed the snarkier ones, even though there are dozens upon dozens of snarky comments that people seem desperate to want the couple to see.

In the caption of the follow-up video, they wrote, “Infertility is already hard enough. The people going through it deserve understanding, support, and connection.”
