Mommy, Can We Play?

When the days are long, it can be easy to plop your little one in the exersaucer while you enjoy some TV time on the couch. But, our babies need us. They need us to laugh and play and sing and dance. Interaction is SO important, especially for infants whose brains and bodies are developing rapidly. A great way to interact with your baby is through playtime! Check out these 10 tips for connecting with your little one through play.
Read to Your Baby

Reading is absolutely one of the best things you can do with your baby. Find your little one's favorite board book and read it over and over while they coo at all they hear and see.
Mimic Your Baby's Voice

It might seem silly, but try having a conversation with your baby in her language. That's right! Repeat her sounds while she talks to you. It'll be a ball for you both.
Play Peekaboo

This classic game never fails. Get your babe giggling with a fun game of peekaboo! It's a great one to play while you're making dinner, too!
Sing a Song

Just like reading, singing is so important for your baby's brain development. Sing your favorite song or make one up. You'll be a hit, no matter what!
Enjoy Bath Time

Most babes love bath time. They love to splash and feel the water on their skin. It's a great time for you to play and interact with them, too. Give your baby a bath in the sink, or take a shared bath. The skin-to-skin contact will be a great way to connect with your little love.
Explore New Textures

Help your little one explore new textures by doing a fun sensory activity with them. (Pinterest has LOADS of ideas if you need some!) Your baby will take such an interest in feeling some "new" things.
Take a Walk

Fresh air is good for everyone—babies included. Bond with your baby by taking a walk around your neighborhood or enjoying a hike in nature.
Make Mealtime Fun

Ease the stress of dinner with a little fun for you and baby. Let your little one play with some spoons or rubber spatulas. Have a long conversation about your day while you're making a meal for your family.

Dance to Some Music

Turn on a fun song and get cheek to cheek with your little love. Babies love the movement and excitement of dancing, especially when it's with Mom!
Snuggle Together!

At the end of a long day, sometimes all you need is a good snuggle. Cuddle together with a toy, book or warm blanket and enjoy some time together. Gaze into each other's eyes while trying to make Baby laugh. What better end is there to a busy day?
