10 Weird Things I Loved About Being Pregnant

OK, so some women loooove being pregnant. Truthfully, I can't say I was one of them. Having a little person inside of me, the way it moved, seeing elbows, feet—it was just odd to me. Of course I loved that I was creating a life, yada, yada, yada. But a moving around person that could make me nauseous at the drop of a hat just wasn't my thing.

Plus, I was gaining weight! As someone who had been thin my whole life, it wasn't easy to see me weigh almost as much as my 6'1" husband when I'm only 5'2". So, when small things would come along to make a really pregnant woman happy, guess what? I relished in them. Here are 10 random things that I actually did love about being pregnant.

1. Wearing Elastic Waistband Pants

When else would I ever wear pants that let my stomach expand as big as a beach ball?

2. Eating Chinese Food Was Better Than Sex

I craved Chinese food the first trimester, almost like I craved breathing. And when I'd eat it, I felt like a dog with his bowl of dog food. You did not get between me and my Chinese food, if you knew what was good for you.

3. Homeless Men Found Me Sexy

OK, yes, that probably sounds odd. But I was feeling like a house even at five months. So when I overheard a homeless man say I was sexy (even weighing an extra 35 pounds!), I was like, yeah, I still got it.

4. Didn't Have to Do Any Sit-Ups

For most of my life, and after I had my child, I have been an exercise fiend. So not having to do sit ups and planks was awesome. I sure loved nine months of that!

5. I Napped

I was never a napper. I always felt like I had to be working towards some sort of goal. Call me a type A personality. But in the first trimester, I was so tired. All I can say is I'm glad I didn't have any freelance jobs that period. How do working women do it?

I'm surprised my baby didn't come out of my belly as a brownie since I ate so many.

6. I Watched Reality TV and Loved It

I never minded if my friends had their weekly reality TV shows, but I never had time, because I was always writing something. But during my first trimester I was so tired all I could do was lay in bed and watch TV. I found out for the first time why some of those reality dating shows were such hits. They were really good!

7. Brownies

I craved chocolate. A lot. But not just chocolate—brownies. I'm surprised my baby didn't come out of my belly as a brownie since I ate so many.

8. Eating for Two

Look, I wasn't pigging out. But occasionally you get so hungry, you just have to go for it. We pregnant mamas always know we're growing a life. And if that means taking a second helping, so be it.

9. Being Crazy

Let's face it, some of our hormones go all wacko. And on at least two occassions I was a total crazy woman to my husband. Luckily, we laugh about it now.

10. Crying

Yep, hormones, again. I'd cry at the drop of a hat. And truthfully, ever since I've had my child, it's never been the same. Even now my 9-year-old will look at me during a sad scene in a movie we're watching together, and know I'm going to cry. At least now he's on the outside of my belly to cheer me up.
