Just when you thought TikTok had officially taught you everything there is to know about life, another mom is now going viral for a clever baby burping hack that you're definitely going to want to try. To be fair, Tay Becker (who goes by @taybeckerbeauty in TikTok) admits that she didn't invent the trick herself. But after watching it in a YouTube video one day and seeing how well it worked, she decided to spread the good word to others – and BOY, are they grateful.
According to Tay, the whole thing looks kind of ridiculous
But she promises it works — and you need only check out her viral TikTok to see it in action.
As she illustrates in the clip, it takes only a matter of seconds to get your baby in the right position, and then less than a minute to coax a few hearty burps out of them.
First things first: Gently place the baby against your shoulder
Becker reminds parents to support their head and neck really well as you pick them up, and then hold them snugly against you as you prepare to burp them.
Then, with the opposite hand/arm that you're holding them with, she says to “make a Barbie hand." (In other words, make the shape of a “C” by gently cupping your hand … you know, kind of like a Barbie doll hand!)

Next, place your cupped hand right under the baby's butt
Then, simply shake the baby's butt from side to side, creating a gentle rocking motion with your hand.
In a matter of seconds, you'll start to hear your baby let our a few necessary burps — all without having to pat them on the back.
It may seem silly, but apparently it works!
At least, that's what people all over TikTok are saying now that they've put the trick to the test with their own babies.
"Ummmm I just tried this on [my son] and it worked!” said one TikTok commenter, who tagged a friend in the post and told her to keep the trick in mind for her own baby.
“Was feeling my daughter while watching this and it works so well!” said another parent.
"My 4 1/2-month-old twins have always been hard to burp," one mom shared. “I tried this and OHHH MYYY GOSSSHHH! Worked like a charm!”
A few people had actually heard of the hack before
And (surprise, surprise) they've been big fans of it for a while now.
"One of my nurses taught me this after having my daughter," wrote one parent. “But she called it the hula!”
“I thought I was the only one who did this because my baby thought it was weird,” admitted someone else. “But my 3-month-old loved it since the day he was born.”
One or two TikTokers did raise a few concerns in the comments
Mostly, they wondered if the burping hack would cause any long-term damage to the baby's spine or joints. But as Becker explains in both the video and her own comments, she actually learned the trick from a chiropractor who gave a thorough online tutorial about how to safely rock your baby this way to burp them — so she thinks it's safe to say that the trick is doctor-approved.
If she does deserve credit for anything here, though, it's the supercute name she gave it: the “wiggle butt” burping hack!
(Honestly, that's not a name you can easily forget.)
