A TikToker is going viral for their response to a prank video they found on the platform. User @garbagemouth stitched their response to the video of a dad throwing whipped cream in his toddler daughter's face harshly. The dad plays it off as a joke, but you can see the child is visibly upset. Ultimately, the dad got an important lesson on how childhood trauma impacts your life even into adulthood.

In the stitch, @garbagemouth, who disguised their appearance by using a lemon filter, explains how something that could seem innocent to the dad can actually cause a lot of trauma.
"You know, it’s amazing what a person can recall from their childhood that upset them or embarrass them or traumatize them," they begin.
They then use an example from their own childhood of a similar experience that left them with residual trauma well into adulthood.
"My father used to think it was hysterical to throw a blanket over my head and then pretend to trap me underneath it," they share.
They went on to explain that their dad's behavior, even if he thought it was a joke, caused them to now suffer from claustrophobia (an extreme fear of confined spaces).
"If a blanket even accidentally goes over my head now as a fully grown adult, I get panicky, like I’m a child again," they admitted.
"I'm not saying every time you take out the Cool Whip that she's gonna go running for the hills," they added. "It's embarrassing what you did to her."
They make an important point: Children, especially young children, can be embarrassed easily. The little girl in the video didn't do anything wrong, and now she may feel she did.
After making their point, the TikToker asked the dad from the video to reflect on his own childhood and the things that made an impact on him.
"I don’t know why they thought this was funny. That poor child," one user commented.
"Yes! I have so many core memories from growing up from adults treating me poorly. It might not seem like a big deal to the adult but it’s traumatic," added another.
"My father thought it would be funny to tell me he got me a 'coffee' and only after I took a drink did I find out it was a cup of leeches in water," one user shared.
"My dad once stuffed brussel sprouts down my throat when I didnt eat my veggies at dinner. im 41 and still remember it," someone else shared.
