When you’re hosting a big holiday gathering, you have to be prepared for a few snafus. Maybe you’ll run out of that one ingredient you need to make your signature casserole. Or, maybe the dog will decide to throw up on the living room carpet right before company comes. Whatever happens, you’re not alone if something goes wrong on the big day, which is why your best bet is to simply roll with the punches.
But apparently, that’s not exactly Sharon Weiss’s style. Instead, the internet’s newest Karen is going viral for writing a scathing Facebook post about the Marie Callender’s pie she burned on Thanksgiving. And so far, people Cannot. Stop. Laughing.
The incident seems to have happened last week, at the worst possible time
Just as Weiss was readying her table for Thanksgiving dessert, she discovered that her beloved pumpkin pie — the star of the show — had gotten a little overcooked in the oven.
… OK, so it was more than a little well done; it was burnt to a crisp.
Horrified, she quickly snapped a photo of the "evidence"
Then, she hopped on Facebook, where she took out her frustration on Marie Callender’s official Facebook page.
Weiss didn’t leave a long-winded rant or even a whole story about what went wrong before said pie was burned beyond recognition.
Instead, she was quick and to the point with her complaint, writing simply: “Thanks Marie Callender’s for ruining Thanksgiving dessert.”
It was a strange reaction, to be sure
For starters, how could a pre-made pie ever be at fault for getting burned in the oven? The directions literally tell you what time and temperature to set it at so this exact scenario can be avoided.
Then there's the fact that Marie Callender *isn't* an actual person
And yet, the speed at which Sharon flew to the company’s Facebook page in order to blame “Marie Callender” for the mishap is … really something.
(I mean, if anything, shouldn’t Sharon be mad at herself?)
But the most jaw-dropping part of this story was yet to come ...
Because as eagle-eyed Facebook sleuths later noticed, someone from Marie Callender’s quickly replied to Sharon in the comments — AND ACTUALLY APOLOGIZED FOR THE MISHAP!
“Hi Sharon, thanks for your post,” the company responded. “We’re really sorry to hear our Pumpkin Pie let you down this year. We’d like to get in touch with you so we can hear more and help.”
The note ended by asking Sharon to privately message the brand so she could connect her to someone internally, though it’s unclear whether or not that actually happened, since she didn’t write any further comments on the post.
Still, people were floored
In fact, as her original post started going viral over the weekend, thousands of people began commenting on it, and couldn’t resist roasting her a bit in the process.
“Please send her a larger version of the back of your box,” wrote one person, who tagged Marie Callender’s.
“Send it in the mail, certified, so she can’t say she didn’t get it and blame another burnt pie on them,” added someone else.
“Ma’am, where on the recipe box does it say you have to bake it on the actual sun?” wrote one woman.
“How many days did you bake this for?” asked someone else.
Some people encouraged the folks at Marie Callender's to stand up for themselves
“Why are you sorry?” one person asked the brand, in response to their apology note. “You didn’t cremate her pie. You didn’t set her oven temperature to the ‘hell’ setting. She did that all on her own. Maybe she needs to lay off the sauce before cooking next time?”
“Don’t you dare [apologize]!” another person added. “You did nothing wrong!”
We're guessing Sharon wasn't too amused by all of this
Just scrolling through the Sharon Wiess memes on the Marie Callender’s Facebook page and laughing to myself at work

At least, that’s the only reason we can think of for why she never replied to any of the comments left on the post (which totaled over 22,000), or why the post was suddenly taken down on Wednesday afer going massively viral.
But luckily, enough people took screenshots of the original post, and now those posts are going viral, too.
And believe it or not, more than 4,000 people have already joined a public Facebook group created on Tuesday that’s literally devoted to memes inspired by Sharon’s post. (It’s called, Marie Callender’s Sharon Pie Roasting Posting, and yes, you can join it here.)
To be fair, we don't know the whole story here

As Newsweek pointed out, the company has received other complaints from customers who claimed that the baking instructions on the packaging were wrong or misleading.
“I baked this exactly as the instructions on the box,” wrote one person. “The top came out burnt. Overall the pie flavor wasn’t the best, even if you peeled the burnt layer off.”
“I followed directions and pie crust is black and also the top of the pie,” wrote someone else. “I could not cook it any longer.”
Hmmm … so maybe Sharon DID have a somewhat valid complaint after all?
(Guess we’ll just have to buy a pie or two ourselves to test this theory.)
